More than four years after the death of his daughter, a judge has sentenced a Nevada father to life in prison. The court found Clayton Martin Jr., 37, guilty in the murder of his 7-week-old daughter, London. In October 2020, an argument ensued between Martin and his fiancée, Nicole Poole.
In a fit of rage, Martin threw London from a balcony, where she hit the pavement 22 feet below. Poole ran to her daughter to try to save her life, but tragically, the newborn died.

According to People, Martin set fire to the family’s apartment before leaving the scene, killing the family’s dog. Police arrested him a short time later at Harry Reid International Airport, where he was wearing a TSA shirt.
The father reportedly had limited memories of the incident due to having schizoaffective disorder, according to court documents reviewed by the Las Vegas Review-Journal, per People. He apparently thought he was in a movie.
“That’s how delusional he was at the time of this crime,” attorney Betsy Allen said.

Despite the defense’s best efforts, Martin was found guilty. He will spend the rest of his life in jail, with the possibility of parole.
“I don’t say this lightly – this is the worst case I’ve ever seen,” District Judge Carli Kierny said during sentencing, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported. “It boggles my mind.”
In the weeks after her death, the family raised more than $21,000 for London’s final expenses via a GoFundMe account. The organizer, Ebonie Lemi, asked for strength and prayers for London and her family.
“Please, please pray for healing and strength for Nicole, and our entire family. Rest In Heaven our precious baby London. You will always hold a special place in all our hearts,” she wrote on the page. “You were treasured and loved before we even knew you sweet baby girl. Even if for only a short time, you were our beautiful little princess. Our hearts are completely broken. London was a happy, healthy baby girl!”
