Surrendering a newborn baby isn’t a decision parents take lightly. A difference exists, however, between lawfully giving up a newborn and abandoning one. Recently, $24,000 was offered to identify a couple who abandoned three newborn babies.
In January 2025, the Metropolitan Police in London issued a news release seeking information about the parents of three newborn siblings. The babies were left in public spaces over five years. Now, law enforcement is concerned about the well-being of the mother.

In January 2025, London police sent out a new release about a baby abandoned in 2024.
The Metropolitan Police news release detailed the abandonment of a newborn a year ago.
As People previously reported, a baby girl was abandoned at 9:13 p.m. January 18, 2024, in London. The newborn was discovered in a shopping bag by a member of the public in Newham.
The news release detailed, “The baby was thankfully uninjured and was taken to hospital as a precaution. The baby, named by the authorities as ‘Elsa’ has since been discharged and placed into the appropriate care.”
The newborn abandoned in 2024 is a biological sibling with babies abandoned in 2017 and 2019.
In April 2024, DNA tests established that “Elsa” was the biological sibling of two other babies abandoned in London, People reported. A baby boy, “Baby Harry,” was discovered in a park area on September 17, 2017. The other child, “Baby Roman,” was found at a children’s play park on January 31, 2019.
For a while, police have been working to identify the couple who abandoned three babies.

The Metropolitan Police has “carried out extensive enquiries over the past year to try and locate Elsa’s parents,” Detective Inspector Jamie Humm of the Child Abuse Investigation Team noted in the news release.
“This has involved reviewing over 450 hours of CCTV and completing a full DNA structure of the mother,” he explained. “We have also worked with wider specialists who are of the view that the mum and possibly also the father have been residing in the Plaistow or East Ham area over the past six years.”

“We have serious concerns for the well-being of the parents, especially the mother,” Humm explained in the news release. “And are continuing to work closely with Newham Council and appeal for the public’s help for information.”
He added, “I believe that someone in the area will have been aware of the mother’s pregnancies and that within the community there may be have been concerns for this mother’s welfare. I share these concerns with you so if you have any information, no matter how small it may seem, please contact us.”
Now, there is a $24,000 reward to identify the parents.
The news release assured the public that “all three babies in this investigation are thankfully healthy and well.”
However, a charity called Crimestoppers – independent of the police – is offering a reward of up to £20,000 ($24,00 USD) for information about the parents.
