What to know
While spending the rest of her life in prison, Taylor Parker apparently has plenty of time to think about her life and what led to her death row sentence. A court convicted her of brutally murdering Reagan Simmons-Hancock in October 2020 and attempting to steal her unborn baby.
The Netflix documentary Maternal Instinct shares an inside look at Parker’s life of lies, including a months-long pregnancy ruse that ultimately destroyed multiple lives.
Parker’s boyfriend, Wade Griffin, evidently believed what Parker told him and fell into her trap along with members of his family. In a newly released letter, it appears Parker tried to make amends with Griffin’s father while in prison.
Parker asked for forgiveness.
In a handwritten letter obtained by TMZ, Parker asked Jimmy Griffin, Wade Griffin’s father, to forgive her as God has forgiven her. “Not that I deserve it but that Ive asked God for forgiveness and I believe he has showed me it. I believe His forgiveness should come first – and that is something you taught me,” she wrote.
Parker told her ex-boyfriend’s father he is a “wise man” with so much to teach. She claimed to know his “true heart” and will forever cherish their bond.
Parker hopes Jimmy and Wade Griffin can mend their relationship.

While thanking Jimmy Griffin for his kindness, she implored him to be patient with Wade Griffin. She explained that while she knows it’s difficult for them to see eye to eye, Wade Griffin’s stubbornness comes from his mother, Connie, and not his father.
“He is a lot like you in so many ways Mr Jimmy. I want you to know Wade struggles to make you proud of him,” Parker wrote. “I think for so long he has felt like a disappointment that he truly feels you will never be proud of him.”
Parker asked Jimmy Griffin to keep her letter confidential.
She wrote that she’d also written a letter to Wade Griffin, but she didn’t know whether she would send it and asked Jimmy Griffin to keep the communication private. She assured Jimmy Griffin that she is OK in prison but struggles with missing her children and understanding how and why any of this happened.
“I’ve prayed. I think we may ask questions that we will never receive answers to. I hope you can truly find it in your heart to forgive me. I loved you like a dad Mr. Jimmy please know that. I truly loved Wade as well,” she wrote. “I hope you had a good Thanksgiving.”
Parker killed Simmons-Hancock in her New Boston, Texas home on October 9, 2020. Parker, a mother of two who had a hysterectomy, could no longer bear children. She performed a crude C-section on the pregnant woman and attempted to steal her baby from her and raise the child as her own after faking a pregnancy. Both Simmons-Hancock and the baby died.
A Texas court convicted Parker of capital murder in 2022. She now sits on death row in Texas as the youngest woman awaiting execution.
