Gun violence is an epidemic in the United States. It doesn’t discriminate and can happen to anyone. Nandi Hamilton, a mom from Georgia, learned that lesson in the hardest way possible. Hamilton lost her 16-year-old daughter, Taylor Hamilton, in a brazen attack on Thanksgiving Day. A doorbell camera allegedly captured 15-year-old Adonis Alkarim shooting Taylor at point-blank range. When Hamilton received the call about the shooting, she rushed to Taylor’s side, but sadly, the girl died a short time later. Her alleged killer will face charges as an adult.
Fox 5 reported that the shooting took place in the 3000 block of Wentworth Avenue in Ellenwood, just after 6 p.m. November 27, 2025. The outlet named Alkarim as the suspect. Hamilton told WSB-TV that Taylor went to hang out with friends on Thanksgiving and was waiting for an Uber when the shooting occurred. The heartbroken mother explained that a doorbell camera caught the shooting, and she shared the video with the television station.
Taylor reportedly stood with headphones on, waiting for her ride in the video. Hamilton said the teenager was mourning the murder of her boyfriend, which apparently bothered some people. “They were mad about her keeping her boyfriend’s name alive, and they didn’t like that,” she said, per WSB-TV.
Alkarim allegedly approached Taylor and pulled out a gun. The teenager was not impressed. “I don’t care about no gun,” she said.
The 15-year-old reportedly kept taunting Taylor, so she clapped back and got in Alkarim’s face, the video shows. That’s when the unthinkable occurred. “He’s a monster. He shot her in cold blood,” Hamilton said.
Not only is Hamilton heartbroken about losing Taylor, but she also has emotions for Alkarim. “I feel sorry for him that he’s that cold. To do something so monstrous,” Hamilton said.
Hamilton created a GoFundMe account to help with her daughter’s final expenses. She posted on Facebook and many people shared kind words with the devastated mother.
“As a single father of a little girl who just turned 13 years old, my heart cries for you my condolences to you and your family,” a commenter wrote. “I know there’s nothing I or Anyone can say to ease your pain but just know so many people are Hurting with you with you please stay strong I know it’s hard. so sorry this happened to you.”.
Per WSB-TV, Alkarim faces charges of malice murder, child cruelty, possession of a firearm by someone under 16, and possession of a firearm during a felony.
How did we get here? He’s not even old enough to drive, but Alkarim could face the death penalty. How is any disagreement worth taking another person’s life and ruining your own in the process? This has to stop.
