When her parents found out that TikToker @bbyegan_ of Kentucky was pregnant, they told her to keep quiet and they’d raise the baby as their own. But the then 13-year-old didn’t want to live her life as a lie. Now 20, @bbyegan_ recently shared the whole story about how she got pregnant by her “secret” boyfriend, and now she’s using her story to help young girls not make the same choices she did.
The then-13-year-old first met her 16-year-old boyfriend at a skating rink back in 2013.
It was where all the teens hung out, the TikToker who also goes by Gabs, explained in a video from November 14, 2020.
“I was in seventh grade and he was a sophomore in high school,” she explained. Gabs hid her boyfriend from her parents, and a couple of months after they started dating, he pressured her to have sex.
“Cause if you love someone you do it — you do the dirty,” he told her. “I fell right into that trap and ended up losing my virginity to him.”
“When you’re a young girl and an older guy is giving you attention you can fall into that trap really easily because you feel wanted," she explained. "When you’re that young you’re easily manipulated.”
Two months later, Gabs found out she was pregnant by taking a test — and discovered that her boyfriend had gotten ANOTHER girl pregnant too.
The other girl had an abortion — but Gabs knew that wasn’t her path.
First she told her mother, who "was really disappointed, didn’t believe me at first,” she recalled in a second video. She even made Gabs take a second pregnancy test — which came back positive.
“I told her yes mom, I did it. I’m so sorry. I’m pregnant,” Gabs shared.
Despite being raised in a very religious family, her mom told her that she didn’t have to have the baby if she didn’t want to.
“You can have an abortion if you want to, it’s your life it’s your choice, I’m just so worried for you and I don’t want you to be judged by people,” she recalled her mom telling her.
Her mom was also really worried about Gab’s father.
She begged Gabs not to say anything, but the teen knew that wouldn’t be right.
“Eventually a week later I sat down with my dad, I was crying, I said, ‘I need to talk to you,’” she remembered. “He said, ‘What, did you get caught with drugs?’
“I was like, ‘No, I’m pregnant!’ And he was like, ‘No, you’re not,’” but when Gabs’ mom confirmed the news to her dad, he knew it was true.
“We all had a moment of silence, I was crying, “ she remembered in a fourth video, and then they took a family walk around the neighborhood in near silence.
“Then my dad told me, ‘Don’t tell anyone that you're pregnant’,” she added. He told her not to get an abortion and she agreed that termination wasn’t right for her. “I am pro-choice, but I wanted to keep the baby,” she said.
“My parents recommended that I say the baby was adopted, so hide the pregnancy and then I have the baby and my parents pretend like they adopted the baby and I pretend like it’s my sibling,” she continued. “I couldn’t get on board with that – I didn’t feel like I could live a life like that. … I didn't feel like I could let my parents raise my kid.”
“I told them no, it was going to be my kid,” she said.
Gabs still kept her pregnancy quiet — even after her boyfriend found out about the baby and then left her at 15 weeks.
“He didn’t talk to me through the majority of my pregnancy and I was absolutely depressed,” she said in part five of her series. He even had another girlfriend while she was pregnant. Gabs lost all of her friends that year, and the next year they decided to homeschool her so she could get away from the drama.
The young mom had a healthy pregnancy, but around 37 weeks, her doctor told her she would need a C-section to give birth.
“I had a contracted pelvis and they felt that if I tried to give natural birth it could be life-threatening,” she said in part six of her video series. “I had a scheduled C-section that was scheduled for January 24, 2014. I was still 13 at the time and I was 13 when I gave birth.”
It was around this time that her ex-boyfriend came back into the picture. She agreed to take him back so they could raise their baby together. He was even in the operating room when Gabs had their son.
In another video, Gabs shared something strange that happened to her while she was recuperating after surgery.
“The first person to come in and visit me when I was in recovery, because you could only have one person in at a time, was not my mom, not my dad — it was my youth pastor from church,” she remembered. “This freaking guy.”
To this day Gabs is still unsure how her pastor found her. No one at her church knew she was pregnant and it was unclear how he knew about her due date. Her parents hadn't even seen her yet after the surgery.
The unwelcome visitor told Gabs he’d been praying for her and asked her several times if she was going to keep the baby.
He was “really pressing me, asking if I was keeping the damn baby,’” she recalled. To make matters even more strange, he didn’t even talk to Gabs’ parents first about making the surprise visit. “They didn’t even know he was at the hospital and I feel like he was trying to get me to give the baby up for adoption.”
The new mom had finally had enough and asked him to leave.
When she told her parents what happened, they were upset. Not only was he the first person to see Gabs after her surgery, but they were angry that the nurses let him through.
“It was just a really weird situation,” she explained.
After her son was born, Gabs and her boyfriend were together for about three months.
“Then I found out that he was cheating on me still; he was cheating on me pretty much the whole time we were together. He ended up dating this girl he’d met online and they were in a long-distance relationship, but I didn’t know she lived states away,” she remembered.
For most of her son's life, his dad has been absent, but recently the two have been trying to reconnect using FaceTime.
“It’s always been more of a friend relationship than anything,” she explained. “It’s affected my son a lot growing up.”
The mom now says that she and her son got to “grow up together.”
She's married, had a second baby, and is happily a mom to two stepchildren.
Still, it was a lot of hard work and turmoil for Gabs to get to this happy place. That's why she issued one final warning to everyone who saw her story.
“So that wraps up my 13 and pregnant storytime. Protect yourself, kids!” she urged.
