20 Short but Sweet Baby Girl Names

Short baby boy names are a dime a dozen. Joel, James, Adam, Brice, Eli, the list goes on and on. But what about short baby girl names? They're, well, not as common. Girl names are typically longer and then shortened with pretty and adorable nicknames. Think Abigail to Abby, Jennifer to Jen, and Katherine to Kate. But what if we want to forego that whole nickname step and just name our newborn girl with a short and sweet name? Is our only option to just skip the original long name and just name them Liz instead of Elizabeth? Surely, there are more creative short names? Fret not, there are!

While long baby girl names are definitely beautiful and elegant with their complicated spelling and syllables, short names can be fun, strong and just as feminine! In fact, we'd argue that short names are often cheekier and cuter than their long counterparts.

Short baby girl names are often easier to pronounce and spell, making everyone's world a tad easier. They're also perfect for balancing out a long and wordy last name (since that can't exactly be fixed as easily.)

No one can deny that short baby girl names really pack a punch. Sometimes just one syllable will do the job and help our baby leave a lasting impression on whoever they meet in the future. Now that's definitely the kind of impact we want our baby girl to make!

We scoured countless names to round up 20 of the shortest but sweetest baby girl names out there.
