Lunch box notes are a classic way to send kids some love during their midday meal. But Whitney Cicero, who blogs and shares funny parenting videos on The New Stepford, uses her lunch box notes to send a different kind of message. The funny mom, who has a 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old son, is the mastermind behind Passive Aggressive Lunch Bags — classic brown paper bags with hysterically snarky and honest notes that make packing school lunches seem like a whole hell of a lot more fun.
Cicero uses her funny lunch notes to issue directives to her teens about everything from washing clothes to spending less time on Fortnite.
Her clever lunch notes achieved viral fame after her daughter recommended that she start sharing photos of them on Instagram. Other parents were in love, and soon Cicero had a new business.
Cicero now sells the bags in packs of 10 for $4.99 plus shipping.
Included in the set are some of her best witticisms, such as "McEatIt" and "You do not work on Wall Street. Do not barter and trade your Capri Sun."
There's also this one, which calls out every kid for turning their parents into a glorified short-order cook.
And this one that is way too real for anyone who's ever packed a lunch in a rush and been unable to find the missing straw.
On Instagram, Cicero shares more of her funny notes as the "Bag of the Day," including ones you might see available for purchase in the future.
I think we can all admit that Idris Elba dreams > packing lunch.
The mom said she mostly started writing her funny notes because she believes in laughing with your kids and having a sense of humor about parenthood.
"It's imperative to have humor with your kids," she told Today Parents. "We joke about everything — sex, drugs, politics, their bodies — I don't want them to think anything is taboo. Humor is a great segue into having meaningful conversations and it helps break the tension of things that can be kind of awkward. And, if we don't have a sense of humor about parenting, we will literally lose our minds."
