Meghan Markle’s Podcast Reviews Question Her Authenticity

When Meghan Markle announced a new podcast titled Confessions of a Female Founder, there were murmurs of questions regarding what it would be about and how authentic the Duchess of Sussex is. Now, the reviews for Meghan’s podcast that question her authenticity show how her critics are unafraid to speak their minds.

Confessions of a Female Founder is about Meghan having discussions with women who started their own companies. The title isn’t in direct reference to Meghan being a “female founder,” but it does signify her place as a businesswoman. But some of her harshest critics have left reviews about her podcast after just one episode to share what they think of the substance of the show.

Meghan Markle’s podcast reviewers are quick to critique her.

The first episode of Meghan’s podcast features a conversation between Meghan and Whitney Wolfe Herd, who founded Bumble and once served as the company’s CEO. The idea behind hearing the discussion is for listeners to learn about business while Meghan does, too. But some of those who listened to that first episode refused to learn anything other than how to leave a scathing review on Apple Podcasts.

One of the one-star reviews says, “No one cares about your privileged elitist life!”

Another user wrote: “Would only listen if the host had founded a successful company, ran it for several years, and was an acknowledged successful founder. So just no.”

Elsewhere, on X (formerly Twitter), other listeners and critics of Meghan shared their own thoughts on the podcast. While some were quick to support her efforts at sharing another side of her with a podcast that she alone hosts, others had quick critiques for the way Meghan went about it in her first episode.

“Whot hast this 43% Nigerian woman founded?!” One user tweeted. “To have ‘ confessions of a female founder ‘ looks very grand but where’s the substance?! She has plenty of ideas of ‘copying and paste’ ideas, but nothing original… everything about this woman is FAKE!!!”

Meghan is working on her own lifestyle brand.

Despite the critics coming for Meghan’s podcast, she is working hard on sharing her recipes, tips as a working mother, and life experience with her lifestyle brand. Her brand, As Ever, features jams, honey, and even sprinkles made from dried edible flowers. Shortly after the online store went live, Meghan shared on Instagram that everything had sold out.

Meghan also hosts the Netflix lifestyle and cooking show With Love, Meghan. In February 2025, Meghan announced her lifestyle brand in an Instagram Reel, per Harper’s Bazaar. At the time, she wrote, “As Ever essentially means as it’s always been. And if you’ve followed me since 2014 with the Tig, you know I’ve always loved cooking and crafting and gardening. This is what I do and I haven’t been able to share it with you in the same way for the past few years but now I can.”

Since then, she has continued to expand on her brand, which now includes her podcast. But it isn’t her first foray into podcasting. In 2022, Meghan released the podcast Archetypes, which was also under the Lemonada Media brand that is responsible for Confessions of a Female Founder with Meghan. Archetypes lasted 13 episodes.
