Pizza Joint’s Rant About Kids Goes Viral: ‘We Loathe Parents Who Use Our Games as Babysitters’

A Boston pizza restaurant allegedly asked some parents to leave after they let their children run amok and then posted about it on Instagram. Dragon Pizza Somerville shared its frustration in a post on March 15, 2025. The restaurant claims this is the first time it’s ever had to ask a family to leave, and it loves children. But this particular night, the customers reportedly took their lackadaisical attitudes too far.

Dragon Pizza posted an Instagram note that began, “TO ALL OUR GUESTS WITH CHILDREN—Anyone who has visited our restaurant knows we are a pizza shop that LOVES KIDS.”

The restaurant stated that it had kicked out a group of “negligent parents” on March 14 for reportedly allowing unsupervised children to disturb the dining room and their guests. Dragon Pizza then listed six important facts about its restaurant:

1-we welcome all children dining in our restaurant with open arms.

2-we DO NOT welcome parents who do not want to share a dining experience with the children.

3-we Love sharing our games with children. Who wouldn’t?!

4- we Loath parents who use our games as babysitters while they ignore their children and let them damage and abuse our games.

5- we think our pizza is the best, worthy of respect, and cherish children who agree.

6-we do not appreciate parents who treat our pizza as a cheap, simple option to feed their children until they can have their own dinner.

Dragon Pizza explained in the post that this was an isolated incident and that it had never asked a family to leave before. The business then stated simply, “Respect restaurants. Bring your family to them. Raise your family in them. We are your community, too.”

Owner Charlie Redd reiterated his love for children to Boston.com. He said, “Since the opening of my first restaurant, Redd’s in Rozzie, I’ve wanted to make guests with children comfortable. It’s part of my philosophy to hospitality, for restaurants to engage everyone. We’ve been very successful here at Dragon accommodating groups with kids.”

Many lauded Dragon Pizza for demanding respect from patrons.

“To many parents these days don’t understand that they need to actually parent their children. Good on you for sticking up for your staff and other patrons,” one person commented on Instagram.

Someone else agreed, writing, “You have to keep reasonable calmness. Sorry y’all had to do that, but it has to be done.”

But not all the rules seemed fair to everyone. This person thought some things were too harsh. “You had me until #6. Why can’t parents give their kids pizza as a cheap, easy option?” the person commented.
