20 Twin Names That Rhyme But Don’t Sound Cheesy

There is a whole slew of exciting things to look forward to when we find out there's a baby on the way. Almost as soon as those two lines turn pink, we start planning and daydreaming about what our kid will look like. We obsess over every symptom, worry about every ping of pain, and when we go to our first ultrasound, some of us are in for a huge surprise: Twins!

Instead of planning for one baby, suddenly, there's twice the work to get done in a short amount of time. That means saving, researching, buying two cribs and car seats, and stocking up on double the diapers. And, of course, there are now two baby names that have to be nailed down. Deciding on a baby name is a big task. It seems fun until we sit down to work it out and realize we have many names that are immediately thrown into the "no" column. And with double the work, sometimes it's easier to find names that sound similar or rhyme. That's part of the fun with twins, right?

But the last thing we want to do is confine our kids to endless eye rolls every time someone hears their names together. Rhyming names can be adorable, but it doesn't take a lot to slip into the cheesy category. We've compiled a list of 20 baby name combos that rhyme for that twin-feel without falling into the corny category for anyone expecting twins.

Elise & Clarice

For parents expecting twin girls, Elise and Clarice are perfect. These names sound beautiful on their own and it’s not right in your face with the rhyme. These two names also come with the added bonus that the names themselves are not super popular, perfect for parents who like to be trendy and not part of the crowd.

Duke & Luke

Fans of the royal family might find it fun to give one of their son’s the name of Duke. If he’s not going to be a real one (like the Duke of Sussex), the name stands alone on its own, too. And a perfect pairing for Duke’s twin is Luke, a name that’s down-to-earth and sits in that sweet spot between unusual and common.

Adeline & Madeline

We love names for girls that have strong sounds to them, but that often means they’re on the longer side. Adeline is a name that we don’t hear enough of, to be honest. And for the twin sister, Madeline, is a name that’s been around for a long time but still hasn’t crossed over to the “we hear that too much” side of baby names.

Flora & Forest

These names aren’t the obvious rhyming pattern, instead of the end sound being the same, it’s the first sounds so it’s not going to come across as being cheesy. Flora and Forest are beautiful names for girl/boy twins and wonderful choices for parents who love the outdoors and are in touch with nature.

Amir & Amira

Parents who are expecting boy/girl twins have a harder time coming up with baby names that have that adorable rhyme to them but work for both. Amir and Amira have just one letter difference, so there’s a real clear rhyme pattern, but both names are strong independently, so it passes the test.

Anisha & Tanisha

Both of these names sound fit for a princess and are gorgeous choices for parents expecting little girls. Their rhymes aren’t super obvious, so they don’t come across as being cheesy and their baby name meanings are strong too — meaning supreme and ambition. We love that these names aren't all over the place either, so the kids will stand out when they're in school.

Daniel & Nathaniel

The key to names that don’t sound cheesy are ones that stand up well on their own, and Daniel and Nathaniel both fit this bill. The cool part about these is if the kids grow up and don’t care for the sound of the rhyme, each name could go by their nickname (Dan and Nate), and they no longer rhyme.

Wylie & Riley

There is something cute about the names that end in “e” or “ey” — probably because they roll off the tongue and have that sweetness to them. The name Wylie isn’t too common, neither is Riley, though more so than the other. For parents who know they’re having triplets, Kylie works in this rhyme scheme, too, and all are super cute.

Finn & Quinn

For parents who love the shorter sweet names, Finn and Quinn are perfect for parents expecting twins. The added bonus for these names, other than the fact that they rhyme, is both are gender neutral and could work for boys as well as girls, making them perfect for parents who don’t want to know before birth.

Wilson & Alison

There are reasons some names have been around for a long time. They’re classic, never go out of style, always fitting no matter the generation. That’s the feeling we get with Alison and pairing that up with Wilson, which is more traditionally a last name — and a strong one at that — it’s the perfect combination for parents with boy/girl twins.

Preston & Weston

While we’re on the topic of first names that are more traditionally surnames, Preston and Weston fit in that category, too. These names are strong names, perfect for boys who want to leave a mark on the world. They have a great rhyme sound to them, but because they’re so sturdy, there’s nothing here that will have people rolling their eyes.

Serena & Seraphina

So much to look forward to when parents find out they’re expecting twin girls. We love names that have a princess feel to them and Serena and Seraphina definitely check all those boxes. These are regal, not too common, and have some great namesakes that any girl would love to be compared to.

Jonah & Jemima

Parents get the best of two worlds when they find out they’re having a boy and a girl, but it can make the name choices a little more challenging. Jonah and Jemima are names that parents shouldn’t overlook. The names are not too out there that people wouldn’t know how to pronounce them or spell them, but totally memorable at the same time.

Melody & Elodie

For families who have music in their veins, these two girl names have a sound to them that’s as beautiful as any song. Neither name is really common but they have that classic old-school feel to them, the ones for kids with old souls. And because they’re classic names and not heard all the time, the rhyme is more a melody of its own than anything.

Aaron & Darren

Finding out there are two boys joining the family is such an exciting moment. We envision them playing together growing up being each other’s best friend and sports mate. Aaron and Darren are classic names for little boys and the rhyming is just an extra level adding to the cuteness. The names will carry the boys well into adulthood, too.

Meet & Preet

There are a lot of beautiful Indian names out there, and parents who want to go that route have some fun choices in terms of twin baby names that work together and have that rhyming sound to them. Meet and Preet, both for little boys, means “friend” and “joyful” so they already sound like the perfect pair for parents who are ready to take on the world.

Harry & Carrie

It’s not easy to come up with twin names that rhyme for a boy and a girl, but it’s not impossible. Sometimes having to think a little harder means we find the perfect names we didn’t know we wanted. Harry is a boy’s name that’s been around for a long time and it just happens to pair well with the girl’s name, Carrie, really well. Together they sound cute, but classic, too.

Tavian & Davien

Some parents really are drawn to baby names that aren’t common. Ones they know no one in their family will throw a fit over because it was on their list, and names that aren’t going to overtake the classroom when they’re old enough to attend. Tavian, which means “eighth” and Davien, a blend of the names “David” and “Damain” fit that recipe perfectly.

Jody & Codie

Jody, which could also be spelled as Jodi, and Codie, which could also be spelled as Cody, are names that could work for girl twins or girl/boy twins. These names are short and sweet, which gives them automatic cuteness, while not crossing over into the cheesy territory. Jody, which is a pet name for Judy, and Codie, which means “wealthy” are sure to bring luck to the kid as they grow.

Sienna & Gianna

There are a lot of baby names for girls that have a beauty that rings off the tongue and when expecting twin girls, finding two names that have that equal power separately or together isn’t easy. Sienna and Gianna hit that combination perfectly. They are strong and powerful and two sisters who are ready to take on the world together is the type of energy these names give off.
