Kylie Jenner's nude lipstick set is one of her most popular kits ever — it's been sold-out for months.
Available in velvet and matte formulas, the Send More Nudes shades have beige undertones and sell for $48 (set of four). We tried the matte set.
SHADE #1: BIRTHDAY SUIT
On Karen, Birthday Suit took a golden brown hue.
She moisturized her lips prior to application, but the formula still revealed every line and was quite drying.
It was my turn next and I was a little worried.
The golden undertone was still present, but my deeper skin tone paled the pigment.
This shade definitely highlighted my pink undertones.
We knew this shade wasn't going to work for Mary the instant she put it on.
The color and formula made her lips look completely dehydrated and chapped.
But Cindy tried on the lipstick and was obsessed. The shade matched her nude makeup look perfectly.
Birthday Suit was practically made for her.
SHADE #2: NAKED
Karen did a double take after applying Naked. It looked like she had concealer on her lips.
This color is definitely unforgiving.
As for me, I have rosacea and this color totally amplified it.
My mouth completely disappeared. I was all cheeks and no lips.
Mary kept internally screaming with Kylie's nudes.
But this concealer-like color really pushed it.
Who is this nude even for?
Not even Cindy's golden undertone could save her from the paleness of this lipstick.
Not the best look.
"The only one that washed me out was Naked, but I could easily make it work with the right lip liner," she said.
Eternal optimist or product junkie? As someone who knows her, she's a bit of both.
SHADE #3: BARE
Finally! Karen found her perfect Kylie nude.
Up close, the lipstick almost matched her freckles.
The pink was at least two shades paler on my skin tone.
Too nude?
Then it was Mary's turn, and TBH we were all pretty nervous for her.
The pale pink wasn't her favorite, but even worse was the cracking of the formula.
Cindy put on Bare and we were all shook.
It's not fair.
SO PRETTYYYY.
SHADE #4: COMMANDO
This turned out to be Karen's favorite shade of all.
We couldn't agree more.
Meanwhile, I prefer my nudes with a browner undertone. This one wasn't cutting it.
I put on two light coats and it cracked every time I smacked my lips together.
After trying on Commando, Mary suggested we rename the lipsticks "Send More Pink," since the nudes were far from being universal.
"My lips looked like the Sahara Desert. It was horrifying," she groaned.
Shocker: Commando looked amazing on Cindy.
VERDICT: This kit is not ideal for a variety of skin tones. It might be good for Cindy's coloring, but even she wouldn't get use out of all the shades.
But you could always blend them together and mix and match, or gift the shades that don't work for you to a friend.
