Halsey posted a series of videos showing her hooked up to IV drips when sharing a new song Tuesday. “Long story short, I’m Lucky to be alive,” the New Jersey born singer said in social media posts sharing her experiences with chronic illness. “Short story long, i wrote an album.”
Halsey, who just released the new single “The End” from that forthcoming album, tagged the accounts for the Lupus Research Alliance and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In a formal press release, Halsey said she was making donations to both nonprofit organizations.
Later, on Wednesday, Halsey said she had been diagnosed with lupus in 2022 as well as “a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.”
Lupus is an autoimmune condition that can affect the joints, blood, skin, and organs. With lymphoproliferative disorders, the body produces too many white blood cells.
“I realize everyone is catching up with the news I’ve held in for a very long time, and I wasn’t sure how much I wanted to share,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
Both conditions are 'currently being managed or in remission; and both of which I will likely have for the duration of my life,' the singer noted.
“Every couple of years now, a doctor says I’m sick, pulls out a brand new bag of tricks and then they lay it on me,” Halsey sings to bare guitar in “The End” (listen below).
“At first it was my brain, then a skeleton in pain.”
The singer, seemingly in pain a video she posted Tuesday, rubbed her legs and talked about her age. She turns 30 in September.
“I feel like an old lady,” she said in the clip. “I told myself I’m giving myself two more years to be sick. I’m 30, I’m having a rebirth and I’m not gonna be sick and I’m gonna look super hot and have lots of energy and I’m just gonna get to redo my 20s and my 30s.”

Halsey has talked in the past about being diagnosed with multiple health conditions.
In 2022, she shared that she had been diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, a connective tissue disorder; Sjogren’s syndrome, an autoimmune condition that causes dry eyes and mouth and can damage organs; postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a blood circulation disorder that can cause lightheadedness, fainting and an increase in heart rate; and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), which is characterized by allergic reactions.
Many people who have Sjogren’s are diagnosed with lupus.
The artist’s new album, her fifth, follows her Grammy-nominated album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, released in 2021.
Halsey’s acting career has also been on the rise.
She appears in the upcoming A24 slasher movie MaXXXine starring Mia Goth, which is the third film in director Ti West’s X trilogy, due out July 5.
Halsey also stars alongside Sydney Sweeney in Tony Tost’s movie Americana which premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2023, and is expected to be released in theaters this year.
The singer welcomed her first child, son Ender Ridley Aydin, in 2021 with screenwriter Alev Aydin. Halsey and Aydin split in 2023.
