Woman Accused of Hate Crime After Dragging 2 Kids Into Deep End of a Pool, Attacking Mom

A Texas family was trying to enjoy an afternoon at the pool when another woman allegedly attacked them. The unidentified Muslim family was at their apartment complex's swimming pool in Euless, Texas, when Elizabeth Wolf, who is white, reportedly began interrogating the mother about her hijab, an Islamic head scarf. The incident escalated quickly, and Wolf, 42, apparently became enraged.

The Euless Police Department released a statement on Facebook on June 24, 2024, regarding the May 19 incident. According to witnesses, Wolf began by interrogating the woman and allegedly attempted to drown her children. Police arrested Wolf and charged her with attempted capital murder and injury to a child. Law enforcement recommended the offense be considered a hate crime.

The attack was apparently violent.

In addition to the news release from Euless police, the Council on American–Islamic Relations-Texas also released a statement about the incident on its website and asked for action from the Muslim community.

According to CAIR, the attack seemingly came out of nowhere.

"The alleged attacker reportedly approached the mother with racist interrogations then jumped into the swimming pool and grabbed the children to the deep end of the pool to allegedly drown them," the release reads.

Police and CAIR accused Wolf of trying to drown the woman's two young children; luckily, they survived the attack.

The mother reportedly jumped into the water to save her daughter.

The woman's 6-year-old son apparently got away from Wolf, but the 3-year-old little girl was forced into the water.

According to CAIR, "The alleged attacker snatched off the mother's head scarf and used it to beat the mother as well as kicking her to keep her away while forcing her daughter's head underwater."

A witness helped the mother and her children.

CAIR reported an African American man helped rescue the mother and her children, and police arrived a short time later. Wolf was allegedly cuffed and said, "Tell her I will kill her, and I will kill her whole family," according to the organization.

Euless police said she was initially placed under arrest on a charge of public intoxication.

The incident has sparked outrage in the community.

Comments on the police department's Facebook page condemned the woman's behavior.

"I sure as heck hope they do charge her with a hate crime and put her in jail for quite some time," one person wrote. "It's bad enough that [bigots] like her want to perpetuate their hate against adults, but to take it out on a child is absolutely unforgivable."

Many agreed.

"Let her smile now, she'll be regretting everything once they put her in prison. She has it coming," another person commented.

"I am sickened by this! Those poor kids are now traumatized," someone else wrote. "What in the world could cause her to be so hateful and bold as to do that? Drunk or not, her character is way off and she is a grand example of what is wrong with this world!"
