Prince William & Kate Middleton Went Above & Beyond for Anniversary Gifts This Year

Just days ago, Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary together. And though we'd have no idea what to get the royal who already has everything, it sounds like they were both well-prepared when the time came for the gift exchange this year. In fact, it sounds like Kate may have won this round.

Will and Kate celebrated their anniversary on April 29.

It's been a long journey for the two of them, spanning decades. From the first time they met at St. Andrews while they were college students to today, next in line for the throne and parents to three adorable children, so much has happened since they tied the knot in 2011.

It sounds like gifts were exchanged.

According to what an insider told Us Weekly, the couple likes to "keep it simple" and stay "low-key" when it comes to personal milestones such as anniversaries, but something was a little different about this year.

No surprise there. 12 years might not be a big anniversary, but they did just get through a lot together, including a move and the death of Queen Elizabeth last fall.

Will gave Kate a family heirloom.

The source said that Will presented Kate with "a stunning diamond ring that belonged to Diana," along with a replica bouquet of the couple's wedding flowers.

"As a sweet gesture, [William] gave her a replica of the bouquet of flowers that she walked down the aisle holding on their wedding day — to symbolize their love, unity and friendship," the source revealed.

So sweet!

Kate's gift to Will was even more personal.

"Kate put her artistic skills to good use and surprised William [with] a framed sketch of the two of them from an old photograph taken during their St Andrew’s years. He was blown away by it!" the source said.

With a gift like that, which took time and effort on Kate's part to create, we would be blown away too!

Gifts aren't everything ...

But they sure can be used as a way of reminding the people you love of exactly how you feel about them, especially following the sentimental theme that Will and Kate seem to love so much. It's hard to beat diamonds that once belonged to Princess Diana!
