Months ago, Jim Bob Duggar causally saidsomething in a video diary Joy-Anna Duggar shared to her YouTube channel. Ever since, critics of the family have been trying to figure out exactly what Jim Bob meant when he said he had 30 grandkids.
Was he bad at math or was there some secret information he was sharing that he shouldn’t have?
Well, critics of the Duggar family think they've finally solved the mystery.
In October 2022, Jim Bob made a statement in a video Joy-Anna shared to YouTube of her telling the family that she and her husband Austin Forsyth were expecting another baby.
In the video, Joy-Anna FaceTimed her dad to share the news with him, and he responded with a grandkid count update.
Jim Bob said in the video that Joy-Anna's baby would take his grandchild total to 30.
At the time, however, the math didn't add up with the only public information on who was expecting another kiddo or who had recently welcomed one. As far as people know, there have only been 28 grandchildren that have been made public.
Josh and Anna Duggar have seven kids; Jill and Derick Dillard have three; Jessa and Ben Seewald have four; joy-anna and Austin have three; Joe and Kendra Duggar have three kids; Jinger and Jeremy Vuolo have two children; Jedidiah and Katelyn Duggar have two kids; John-David and Abbie Duggar have two little ones; Jeremiah and Hannah have one kid; and Josiah and Lauren Duggar have one child.
But this only accounts for 28 grandchildren.
So who had the other two babies? Duggar critics think they finally cracked the code after a private photo surfaced.
On TikTok, @mrskickstand shared a photo she said she was sent to Instagram that appears to answer the question of where the other two grandkids in the count came from — Josiah and Lauren.
The photo has several of the Duggar in-laws, with two appearing pregnant. From left to right, there's Jeremiah's wife, Hannah; Jedidiah's wife, Katelyn; Josiah's wife, Lauren; and John David's wife, Abbie.
It looks like both Katelyn and Lauren are pregnant.
The photo aligns with theories of Duggar critics, who have speculated that Katelyn was due the day after Joy-Anna's third child, which she welcomed earlier this month. There are also rumors that Lauren already had a secret baby and is expecting another soon.
"Lauren was rumored to have a baby last year named daisy," @mrskickstand shared on TikTok. "So irish twins??"
The discussion continued on the popular Reddit channel Duggar Snark, and its commenters think the mystery is solved.
"Wild that Lauren has 3 now (or will have her 3rd soon)," one person wrote. "I definitely believe this solves the confusion."
"Interesting!!! So Lauren and Josiah are boy #15?" another person wrote. "Have we finally solved it?!"
"This would make the '30 grandchild' math add up, right?" someone else asked.
It would make sense for Lauren and Josiah to keep the news of their babies private. The two have stopped posting on public social media accounts and live very privately.
Chances are pretty high that they'll never make a public announcement or confirm whether they have one or three kids. But critics are pretty sure this longstanding mystery is finally solved.
