Of all of the Duggar kids who have broken free after being raised under the Institute in Basic Life Principles, Jinger Duggar’s life might look the most different. Not only is she living far from her family now that she and husband Jeremy Vuolo have put down roots with their children in California, but she’s also wearing and doing so many things that would have been totally off limits under her parents’ roof – including one show she just revealed she’s a big fan of.
After Jinger shared a peek at her weekend routine on her Instagram Stories over the weekend, one moment caught fans’ eyes. When she was making coffee, it was being brewed in a cup that featured the Luke’s Diner logo – you know, the iconic restaurant where Lorelai and Rory spend most of their time on Gilmore Girls.
One of Jinger’s critics brought it up in a post on Reddit, and it seems as if more than a few people are baffled by Jinger’s love of the show. Of course, this is a mother/daughter drama beloved by millions, but the characters live very different lives from what Jinger was taught was proper as a child – and many of them move through plot points that she still may not agree with today.
Some critics guessed she might just find it a “comfort show” like so many other women her age do or that she can relate to Lorelai and Rory’s obsession with coffee, while others had deeper takes.
“She, like all her adult siblings, is def having a delayed adolescence. I’m a millennial woman and I love Gilmore Girls bc I grew up with it, but I was also allowed to watch it while it was airing bc I didn’t grow up in a repressive religious household,” one person wrote.
Another critic offered, “Gilmore Girls is basic. Jinger desires nothing more than to fit into a basic girl’s world.”
Others wondered if Jinger would struggle to keep up.
“I remember when she posted that she was watching it, and I wondered how on earth she followed a show with that many pop culture references,” one critic commented. “Does she stop and google every three minutes? Does Jeremy explain it to her?”
This isn’t the first time Jinger has mentioned her love of the show. Back in 2023, Jinger shared in an Instagram Q&A that her current favorite shows were Gilmore Girls, Seinfeld, and Pawn Stars.
Looks like the Gilmore Girls love is still going strong for her just like it is for so many who still keep watching the episodes on repeat.
