Before Meghan Markle emerged on the homemaking scene, there was only one leading lady in town: Martha Stewart.
Despite Stewart’s advancing age of 84, the iconic homemaker and businesswoman reminded us all once again why she is the OG, thanks to a very stylish summer look.
Stewart rocked a kaftan by Skims (yes, Kim Kardashian’s company) in her words, “before she boarded to Rome,” an oh-so-subtle nod to her fabulous life.
Rocking the Caftan
I know Martha Stewart is a celebrity and thus has access to plastic surgeons, hairstyling, makeup artists, and a slew of other amenities and services that us normal folks do not, but when I saw this picture, I admit that I gasped aloud.
I mean, how is this woman 84 years old?
She looks glowy and flowy and downright carefree. Her caftan is all that I want out of life as I boat off to Rome. And what’s that she’s eating? Probably healthy, protein-rich, unsweetened Greek yogurt, I assume, because she’s also healthier and better than I ever will be.
If I may venture to be so bold, I would even propose that Martha Stewart rocked that kaftan even better than the Skims model did.

It is a bit of a shame that the kaftan retails for a price of $228, because for a brief second, I did fantasize that I, too, could don a breezy kaftan and transform into the sort of person who eats Greek yogurt and jets off to Rome.
Regardless of my brief-lived dreams, I was not the only admirer of Martha’s kaftan.
“I believe everyone should wear beautiful caftans- they are luxurious and elevate ordinary life to —elegance,” wrote one Instagram commenter on Stewart’s post.
“This is how fabulous I want to be at this age. Work it Martha!!!” added @_katerina_vanh.
“If this ain’t me at 80 I don’t want it,” said @ryanashank.
Honestly, same.

And while we couldn’t find an exact replica of Martha Stewart’s kaftan, we were able to find a similar version that looks equally fabulous. And even more fabulous, it’s on sale: normally priced at $90, it’s marked down to $72.
Sounds like the perfect time to pick one up so you’ll be boat-ready for Rome next summer. Or your neighbor’s pool. Either one.
