It’s not often that we ever hear the royals saying anything negative about their lives, but last year was so difficult for the family that Prince William isn’t afraid to say so. Will is set to appear on Eugene Levy’s Apple TV+ series, The Reluctant Traveler, and in a new clip from the episode that was released on Friday, he admitted that last year was the “hardest” of his life.
On the episode, William invites the Schitt’s Creek star to visit him at Windsor Castle, even offering to give him a tour himself (with the family dog, Orla, at their heels). Later, the two men sit down at a pub, and that’s when William gets surprisingly personal.
“I’d say ‘23-’24 was the hardest year I’ve ever had,” William said. “You know, life is sent to test us and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are.”

During that time, both William’s wife, Kate Middleton, and his father, King Charles, received their own cancer diagnoses, leading into chemotherapy treatments that would take a toll on the whole family. It’s no wonder that William remembers their struggles when looking back on that time.
Will also offered a peek into what his family life looks like while he was giving Eugene a tour of the castle, admitting that when he has free time at home, he usually opts to catch up on sleep.
“When you have three small children, sleep is an important part of my life,” he said.
There are plenty of parents out there who will agree with that!
