People Call Cyclist Who Egged on ICE ‘One of the Most Successful Rage Baits’

Donald Trump’s plans to implement ICE agents in major U.S. cities as part of his immigration enforcement aren’t going quite as planned. While there are reports of ICE raids in and around Chicago, on social media, one resident cyclist managed to outrun agents after properly rage baiting them. In a video that was shared on TikTok, the cyclist, who appears to be a delivery person on a bike, tells a group of agents standing on a street corner that he is not a U.S. citizen and urges them to chase him.

After a few seconds, he manages to bait them into doing just that, except this particular bunch of agents might be one of the crews that are new to the business. They try and fail to stop him, even as he runs with his bike before he actually hops onto it. The man in the video has not been identified, but the comments on TikTok prove that he is someone that others are now looking up to.

The cyclist who instigated ICE agents is basically a folk hero.

In the TikTok, the man talks to ICE agents, who all but ignore him as he urges them to chase him. He also claims to not be a U.S. citizen, but still there is no reaction. Then, after he stops to pick up the cell phone he dropped, a couple of the agents begin to lunge for him. But the cyclist runs with his bike and hops onto it and still gets away from the border patrol agents. They must have missed a few days of training when they signed up to be masked agents on the streets of America.

In the comments under the video, one user commented, “One of the most successful rage baits I’ve ever seen.”

Another wrote, “Bro had to stop, pick up his phone, run away with his bike in his hands, and they still couldn’t catch him.” And they aren’t wrong about that.

The video is short at less than a minute long, but it shows resistance in the streets in a way that some Americans are hoping for. According to ABC7 Chicago, residents of a South Shore apartment building that was raided by ICE reported hearing noises outside and looking out to see a helicopter. One resident told the outlet that she and other people in the building were rounded up and told that if they had any warrants, even not related to immigration, they would be detained.

Although the cyclist in the TikTok video is almost playful in goading the ICE agents into chasing him, his actions come at a time when Chicago is on edge and residents are clearly fearful for their lives.

On the TikTok of the Chicago cyclist, others applauded the man for rage baiting the agents, and even made fun of the group of allegedly trained officers for failing to catch him. One user even commented to say that the agents looked positively “embarrassed” afterward, and they probably should be, for a myriad of reasons.
