After Suffering in Silence, Influencer Decides We Need To ‘Normalize Talking About Miscarriages’

An influencer who tried to power through after experiencing pregnancy loss is now shifting the conversation. In 2024, content creator Jeenie Kwon continued to smile, pose for photos, create content, and show up for work on day two of her first miscarriage. Even her friends and family didn’t know anything was wrong.

But after experiencing her fourth heartbreaking pregnancy loss, she decided something needed to change. She would no longer suffer in silence.

She shared updates about the loss on social media.

Instead of smiling like nothing was wrong, she shared detailed updates as she navigated her fourth loss. On Threads, she started by writing, “Can we normalize talking about miscarriages. I’ll go first. I’ve been pregnant 5 times and have one baby. Also I’m currently at the doctor’s office waiting for tests cuz they think I’m having another miscarriage. It’s so hard being a woman.”

The level of transparency was very different from the content she created during her first miscarriage, which Jeenie shared in a video in September 2025, to show how you never really know what someone’s going through. In her TikTok caption, she revealed that she decided to share the old footage because she didn’t want to navigate the loss alone again.

“To all the women who suffered alone… I see u. ❤️‍🩹” she captioned the video. “This was me last year. I don’t feel like going thru this alone this time. Thank you for being here. 🥹”

In the video, she said she just ‘took pain meds and went to work.’

Jeenie didn’t want to let anyone down, so she kept the heartbreaking loss to herself. “My family and friends didn’t even know,” she wrote over the video. “I suffered in silence…Alone….Sometimes there’s more going on than what you see.”

But this time, she detailed exactly what she was going through in a series of posts on Threads, which she also shared via Instagram. In one of them, she described learning about the “inevitable loss” as “unbearable” as she waited to find out whether she was experiencing a miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy.

Then, in another post, she said a nurse asked her if she was pregnant and congratulated her. “I said I’m here for a pregnancy loss,” she wrote. “She said I’m sorry. There was a pause…… then she said she lost hers 2 months ago. I said I’m sorry. She felt my pain and I felt hers.”

Her ‘diaries of a miscarriage’ were super vulnerable and detailed.

In one heartbreaking post, Jeenie wrote, “Because it’s my 3rd pregnancy loss in a year they need a sample to test. Ok so I’m physically in pain, I’m mentally not ok and now u want me to lookout for what was supposed to be my baby to pass in the toilet and somehow pick it up, put it in a jar and bring it to u??? IM TRAUMATIZED. IM NOT OKAY WITH THIS.”

In the comments, people thanked Jeenie for her transparency and bravery. “Thank you for sharing because so many women and parents go through this and keep it private,” one of her followers said. “You’re amazing for being so open it helps others be as brave as you.”

Speaking to Today.com, Jeenie said people’s comments showed her that miscarriages are more common than she realized, which is “what actually shook [her] the most.”

She decided to open up about her miscarriage online after realizing that some of her loved ones had kept their miscarriages a secret. “The reason why I decided to share this online was because when I first shared about my miscarriage and my losses to my closest friends, who I call my sisters, they came out to me and said, ‘I’ve had a miscarriage too.’ And I’m like, ‘Excuse me, you didn’t tell me!'” she told Today.com.

In one post on Threads, Jeenie reflected on how some of her posts felt very “sad.” But in the end, she was grateful that she “took the time to express them this time instead of holding it in.”
