Mom Films Toddler Creating Chaos in Doctor’s Office Waiting Room & It’s Not a Good Look

Sometimes, as parents, we need a reminder that not everyone finds our kids as hilarious and charming as we do. I am absolutely guilty of needing that reminder myself. That’s what some people tried to convince a mother of when she posted a TikTok video wherein her four-year-old son moves chairs around a waiting room to “barricade” a waiting family.

The mom, whose name is Alissa Draper, is heard laughing in her video as she films her son moving chairs around the room.

In the comments, however, literally no one is laughing. Instead, many told Alissa that what she finds funny might have actually been super inconsiderate where the other family in the video is concerned.

Who knows — maybe the other family in the waiting room got a kick out of a dozen chairs being moved to block them into where they were sitting to wait for their appointment? But, um, something tells me that probably isn’t true

The mom claims “everyone thought it was funny” at the office.

In Alissa’s video, her son carefully pushes chair after chair to seemingly create a barrier around a family in the waiting room. To Alissa’s credit, they don’t put up a fuss in the video, but those who commented on the video said they also don’t think it’ a good idea to completely rearrange the waiting room just to keep a child entertained.

Others criticized Alissa’s parenting as a whole, which caused her to make a follow-up video where she proves that the chairs were all moved back into place afterward. She even shows time stamps to prove that, after her son moved the waiting room chairs, he moved them back.

Whether he moved them or she did, it does look like the waiting room was back to normal in the end.

Still, some users are not in favor of allowing a child to do as he pleases.

“I doubt they found this funny, they were probably just being polite,” someone commented on the video to deliver what they clearly believe to be a cold hard truth that Alissa needed to hear.

Someone else did the same with: “Let me hold your hand when I tell you this…NOT EVERYONE ENJOYS YOUR CHILDREN.”

Another user shared a comment to speculate on the other family’s feelings. They wrote, “Nothing like minding your business and suddenly some kid is being obnoxious and shoving chairs all in your space while their ‘parent’ films and laughs.”

In the follow-up video, parents left other comments to give Alissa advice on parenting.

“The main issue isn’t even moving furniture, it’s about being considerate to those around you in public,” someone wrote under that video. “Why is that not a priority and why is letting him do whatever he wants the priority instead?”

Another user pointed out, in opposition to the comments left by others, “This is a special needs child and this is probably really regulating. It doesn’t hurt anyone, the adults in the comments need to chill.”

When you put it like that and point that out, the video makes a lot more sense. Unfortunately, other parents don’t see it that way.

Alissa responded with, “People are used to living in a way that looks acceptable to others, to please others and it makes them very uncomfortable when someone doesn’t live that way.”
