Those who know child care provider Georgeina Hayes claim the 38-year-old took pride in caring for children, but her recent arrest in St. Lucie County, Florida, appears to prove otherwise. Hayes and another woman allegedly got into a domestic dispute around 11 a.m. on October 16, 2025. It apparently turned violent, and investigators say Hayes not only physically attacked the other woman but also struck a 5-month-old baby in the process.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office shared details of the alleged crime in a news release, and it’s positively disturbing. A detective with the Fort Smith Police Department contacted the sheriff’s office after an infant arrived at an area hospital with serious injuries.
Investigators found the injuries reportedly occurred because of a physical altercation between Hayes and another adult female, per the release. Hayes allegedly attempted to strangle the other adult female, who ran for cover. She grabbed the infant and attempted to barricade herself and the baby in a bedroom to protect themselves.
“As she tried to close the door, Hayes began throwing punches, several of which struck the five-month-old infant,” authorities noted in the release. “The blows resulted in the injuries to the infant.”
After a medical evaluation, hospital staff found the baby had a fractured skull and bruising to the arms and legs. It’s unclear who the child belongs to.
Police arrested Hayes, who faces charges of domestic battery by strangulation and aggravated child abuse.
The sheriff’s office news release got a lot of attention, and there were mixed feelings about Hayes.
“Georgina is not a bad person. She made a mistake and is very passionate about taking care of those kids,” one person wrote. “She works really hard for them. Lets pray for those babies and the whole situation.”
“Fracturing a BABY skull is not a mistake,” someone else argued in a comment. “She should have stopped throwing hands the minute the BABY was in the other person’s hands. That’s evil at its finest.”
This person claimed to have seen both sides of Hayes.
“She had her good and bad side she was amazing with my nieces and my god kids but I also experienced the bad side of her i was lucky to get out. She did have a bad side but you also have to know what she went through as well we were together 10 years,” they wrote.
Hayes must have been blinded by anger — not that it’s an excuse. But no person in their right mind would punch an innocent baby. She clearly needs help with her anger and emotions. We just hope the sweet little baby recovers.
