Trump Thinks We Should All Thank Him for Not Being as Bad as He Could Be

Hey guys, apparently, Donald Trump‘s decisions could be a lot worse, so we should all just be grateful, OK? That’s essentially what he’s claiming, anyway, with his 60 Minutes interview that took place in early November 2025. The series posted a clip to TikTok of Trump telling interviewer Norah O’Donnell that he should be given “credit” for not taking harsher steps in controlling the streets of America.

In sharing how much worse he could behave basically, Trump sounds like he could, in theory, do worse than he has already been criticized for. It’s like an abuser telling you that you should be thankful he only slapped you around and didn’t outright punch you.

OK, well, the analogy might not be totally on par, but both situations give off the same narcissistic energy, so there’s that.

Apparently, Trump could be behaving far worse than he already is.

@60minutes “If you had to send in the Army or if you had to send in the Marines, I'd do that in a heartbeat,” says President Trump, citing the Insurrection Act. “Do you know that I could use that immediately, and no judge can even challenge you on that. But I haven't chosen to do it because I haven't felt we need it,” he adds. “I haven't chosen to use it. I hope you give me credit for that.” The president has ordered the National Guard to five major U.S. cities: Los Angeles; Washington, D.C.; Portland; Chicago; and Memphis. #nationalguard #donaldtrump #uspolitics #usmilitary ♬ original sound – 60 Minutes

In the 60 Minutes clip, Trump says he could send the Army or Marines into the streets of big U.S. cities if he “wanted to.” He then says that he could use the Insurrection Act to make it happen and that he couldn’t be stopped by anyone in the process.

“Do you know that I could use that immediately, and no judge can even challenge you on that,” Trump says. “But I haven’t chosen to do it because I haven’t felt we need it. I haven’t chosen to use it. I hope you give me credit for that.”

Yes, the Insurrection Act is real. Per PBS, it’s a law that would allow a sitting president to officially deploy the U.S. military, not the National Guard, in America. It’s not impossible for Trump to put the Insurrection Act into action, but it isn’t a common occurrence among presidents, and it appears to be a last resort. For Trump, it seems like something he is itching to have a valid reason to do.

According to USA Today, the Insurrection Act was used in the 1960s due to pushback of civil rights resistance. It was used again in 1992 due to Los Angeles riots. The outlet also reported that Trump threatened to invoke the Act in his first presidential term, though, so is it really any surprise that he is bringing it up again? No, the answer is no.

On the 60 Minutes clip that was posted on TikTok, one user commented, “He is threatening us!”

“It’s like he doesn’t realize that there’s supposed to be an active insurrection to use that power,” another user wrote under the video. “He wants us to be grateful that he’s not using power inappropriately/unnecessarily. Uh…thanks?”

Others wrote that, per Trump’s own logic, he could have used the Insurrection Act to stop the Capitol attack of Jan. 6, 2021, at the tailend of Trump’s first term.

Another person wrote that Trump’s behavior and words are pure fascism. “Welcome to fascism,” they wrote. “Everything so many fought so hard for to make this country free of a dictatorship has gone out the window. I will never understand how this has been voted in and allowed.”
