For fans of The Kardashians, hearing North West deliver some cunning one-liners to mom Kim Kardashian is nothing new. She is often quick to call out Kim on what she sees as unfashionable or cringe, as kids often do. I mean, people often say that North was put on this Earth to humble Kim, and sometimes, I am inclined to agree. So when she had some strong words for Kim during the Nov. 27, 2025 episode of The Kardashians, it was nothing new.
Except in this case, North gave her mom some advice that convinced her to attend the 2025 Met Gala and was actually encouraging, if still pretty bold. The event, which Kim has sort of become known for attending with iconic outfits, is one that Kim has shared the importance of on The Kardashians before.
And for once, North did not come at Kim with reasons why the mom of four should stay home and save herself any possible embarrassment. Hey, those are North’s hypothetical words, not mine.
There’s a reason they say North West was born to humble Kim K.
In The Kardashians episode, Kim considered not attending the Met Gala when her crocodile leather dress was cut a few inches too short after it was altered for her. She told her hairstylist and makeup artist that “if it looks horrible” after being altered again, she wouldn’t want to go.
To give Kim the extra oomph she might have needed to go to the event, North gave her a very North-like pep talk.
“What’s the worst that can happen? People hate on your outfit?” North asked her. Which, OK, is valid. Then, she added, “They do that every year.” Ope.
She isn’t wrong.
From critics hating on Kim wearing the iconic Marilyn Monroe dress to wearing a dress that covered her entire head and hands in seemingly one big piece, Kim’s Met Gala outfits are often the topic of conversation afterward. That seems to be Kim’s goal, though, so North wasn’t out of pocket with this one. She was just brutally, brutally honest, as per usual.
On another season of The Kardashians, North was once again honest almost to a fault when Kim asked her opinion of her dress choice for the 2023 Met Gala.
I’m sensing a pattern here, but hey, Kim allows it, so I will.
At the time, North told both Kim exactly what she thought about the dress designed on The Kardashians which had layers of pearls and, according to People, took 1,000 hours to make. She said that it looked like it was from “the dollar store.” Ouch.
Afterward, some parents took to Reddit to critique Kim’s parenting, given North’s brazen response, rather than commend the kid for her candor.
“I have raised my kids to be honest but to never ever be vindictive or condescending towards others,” one parent wrote in the thread. “This is beyond disrespectful on so many levels. I imagine that she knows that it actually hurts her mother’s feelings. Probably how she gets attention.”
Someone else added, “Kourtney did say North was born to teach Kim lessons.”
