A woman in England who reportedly connected with Barron Trump on social media says he likely saved her life about a year ago. The 19-year-old son of President Donald Trump was talking to the woman on FaceTime when he allegedly witnessed another man assaulting her, prompting him to contact emergency services. The man, Matvei Rumiantsev, 22, is on trial in London and faces charges of assault, actual bodily harm, rape, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice, CNN reported. During the trial, a transcript of Barron’s call to emergency services was shared.
The woman told authorities that she’s friends with Barron.
Bodycam footage was also presented in court, according to The Independent. When first responders arrived at the scene, they told the woman that they had received a call from someone in the United States. It seems like the woman knew who could’ve made the call. “I am friends with Barron Trump, Donald Trump’s son,” the woman told officers.
Officers asked the woman to call Barron again. She asked him if he had reached out to emergency services. Per The Independent, he told officers, “I picked up the phone expecting a nice hello or something. I just saw a ceiling and could hear screaming. I could see a guy’s head on the phone, and then the camera turns to her crying and getting hit.”
He added, “I called you guys — that was the best thing I could do. I wasn’t going to call back and threaten things to him because that would just make the situation worse.”
When questioned about how he knew the woman, Barron seemed frustrated.
According to a transcript of Barron’s initial call to emergency services published by the Daily Mail, Barron told the operator that he was “calling from the U.S.” because he “just got a call from a girl” and “she’s getting beat up.” He then said, “This was happening about eight minutes ago. I just figured out how to call someone. Uh, it’s really an emergency.”
The operator asked Barron for the woman’s name and he provided it. However, when they asked for the woman’s date of birth, he said, “It’s really an emergency, please.” They asked, “How do you know her?” and he responded with, “I mean these details don’t matter, she’s getting beat up like I…”
But the operator explained that they needed this information.
They asked Barron how he knew about what was happening. He said, “Uh I got a call from her with a guy beating her up.” Again, the operator asked Barron how he knew the woman. He responded with, ” I don’t think these details matter, she’s getting beat up. But OK, fine, also I met her on social media; I don’t think that matters.”
Eventually, the operator told Barron to “stop being rude and actually answer my questions.” They explained, “If you want to help the person, you’ll answer my questions clearly and precisely, thank you. So how do you know her?” Barron reiterated that he met the woman on social media. At the end of the call, he added, “So, sorry for being rude.”
The call occurred on January 18 last year.
Interestingly, this was just a couple of days before his father’s inauguration. In a later email to police officers, Barron said he was “very close” to the woman. Per The Guardian, he wrote, “I was told by the victim, who I am very close with, that this individual was giving her difficulty for a long time.” According to British media outlets, the woman told the court that Barron likely saved her life that night. “He helped save my life. That call was like a sign from God at that moment,” she said.
Barron tends to stay out of the spotlight, and not much is known about his personal life. He’s a student at New York University, and his loved ones have described him as being very polite. At the same time, the New York Times recently reported that Barron allegedly admires prominent manosphere influencer Andrew Tate, who has been accused of human trafficking and rape. Sources also recently alleged that Barron recently dealt with a difficult breakup after dating someone for about a year.
Barron’s mother, Melania Trump, has done her best to keep him out of the spotlight, but that seems to be getting more challenging.
