Police in Georgia responded to a call about an unresponsive newborn baby in October 2025. When emergency responders arrived at an apartment on Perry Boulevard in Atlanta, they immediately rushed the 2-month-old baby to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Scottish Rite. Sadly, the staff declared the unidentified baby boy dead a short time later. Strangely, the baby showed no obvious signs of trauma, and his cause of death eluded doctors at first. Investigators ordered an autopsy, and what they found shocked everyone, leading to an arrest of the baby’s mother, 37-year-old Omayrilin Colon, on murder charges.
Because doctors could not determine the infant’s cause of death, police ordered an autopsy and toxicology report, WSB-TV reported. The results showed his blood-alcohol concentration was .179, which is more than twice the legal limit for a full-grown adult. Even more astonishing, investigators determined the baby did not ingest the alcohol through his mother’s breast milk. Instead, someone deliberately fed it to him.
When police spoke to Colon, she reportedly admitted she made her son a bottle and intentionally put the alcohol in it. It’s not clear what type of alcohol she used or what possessed her to serve it to her baby. Colon is now facing murder and cruelty to children charges.
One of Colon’s neighbors shared their shock and sadness with WKRC. “It’s not necessary to cause harm to anyone, let alone children,” they said. “It’s heartbreaking and maddening.”
Crime Watch Atlanta shared the story on Instagram, and followers expressed their disgust in the comments.
“That same time she spent filling that bottle up is the same amount of time she coulda picked that phone up and called someone and told them she needa break,” one person commented. “I got 2 kids ill call they family anytime and tell them ‘mentally I need a break’ can yall please get the kids. And they get the kids. Not saying it’ll be this easy for others but atleast try.”
“There are so many women that can’t have children that would love to adopt and love a two month old properly… At least he’s in a better place,” another person agreed.
We can’t imagine what a 2-month-old baby could have done to deserve such a fate. Why? Just why?
