Chef Gordon Ramsay admittedly got emotional during his daughter’s wedding. His 26-year-old daughter, Holly, married Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty on December 27, 2025. When Jennifer Hudson asked Gordon about the wedding during his recent appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, he admitted that he started crying — but said it was because his daughter’s wedding dress was so expensive.

The celebrity chef is known for getting emotional in a very different way. On cooking shows like Hell’s Kitchen and Kitchen Nightmares, he’s frequently lost his temper, shouted, and made very blunt and insulting comments. At his daughter’s wedding, however, he clearly cried and wiped tears from his eyes, showing people a side to Gordon that they’re not used to seeing.
In attempting to explain the emotional moment on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Gordon joked that he was actually crying over the price of Holly’s wedding dress. “I was very emotional,” he said. “I was crying ’cause I realized how expensive the dress was there. That’s when it suddenly hit me.”
Jokes aside, he did admit that seeing his daughter in her wedding dress is what made him cry.
Surely, the dress did cost a lot of money. But seeing his daughter on her wedding day is what actually made him so emotional. “It’s quite an emotional moment,” Gordon explained. “We have six kids; three girls, three boys…Seeing your daughter there [in her dress] for the first time…You just see this little girl just transformed into this amazing lady, and it just gets you. Wow.”
Holly shared a clip of this emotional moment on social media, and it made other people cry as well. “Gordon in tears hits differently 🥹” one person commented. Someone else said, “Nobody saw Gordon Ramsay crying in their 2026 bingo card 😭” And another person joked, “She can put ‘made Gordon Ramsay cry’ on her resume 🥹”
While the vulnerability seemed unusual to fans who are used to seeing Gordon on TV, Holly previously revealed that her dad actually cried a lot as she prepared for her special day. “Dad cries every time I talk about the wedding,” Holly told Vogue. “The other day I was asking him which car he and I would take to the church, and he welled up immediately.”
Gordon previously admitted he was ‘a hot mess.’
The chef also spoke about his daughter’s wedding during an appearance on This Morning. He described preparing his father-of-the-bride speech, which was “tough” for him. He said, “I mean, being a dad with three daughters, you dream of that moment. That moment arrives, and you’re just like a hot mess.”
