What to Know
Remember when influencers were using Target during the holidays to make content using gift basket ideas and then abandoning the baskets and leaving each time they made a video. When an influencer on TikTok staged a photoshoot for Valentine’s Day at her local Target, it gave off the same energy. The energy being, of course, that some content creators have no regard for other people in the world around them.
A content creator by the name of Esbeide Aguilar used her freewill when she had her photoshoot and then shared the results with her audience on TikTok and Instagram. And, OK, the photos turned out great, I can’t even deny that. But the idea of actually having a photoshoot in a public space where the aisles can get a little cramped and people have every right to be near the little photoshoot is, well, pretty annoying, to be honest.
People are saying her Valentine’s Day photoshoot is more like a “Walmart activity.”
@esbeideaguilarrrr This is your sign to go do a valentines photoshoot at target !! 😩😩 #fyp #valentinesday #photoshoot #target ♬ original sound – ⃟
In Esbeide’s TikTok, she tells her followers that she had her hair and makeup done and chose the right silk pajamas and purse for the photos. The reason for a Valentine’s Day photoshoot is a little unclear, whether it was for content or to give the photos to someone. However, Esbeide doesn’t shy away from giving cheeky expressions, grabbing the largest Valentine’s Day stuffed animals for some photos, and even hopping in the cart for other pictures.
Like I said, the picture slay. No one is negating that. The issue is that this is a Target, ma’am. In some of the shots in Esbeide’s video on TikTok, you can see shoppers in the background, and I can only imagine what they were thinking. Maybe, like some users in the comments under Esbeide’s TikTok, they were thinking that her behavior is something you might see at Walmart instead.
“The concept of booking a hairstylist and MUA to take pics at Target,” one user commented.
“I’d be so irritated tryna shop then someone havin’ a shoot right next to me,” someone else shared.
Another wrote that, despite Esbeide writing in the caption that “this is your sign to do a Valentine’s photoshoot at Target,” you should not, in fact, take the video as a sign.
Some people expected the photoshoot to be at Target, yes, but in some klind of studio, a la JcPenney’s.
“I thought your Target maybe had like a photography studio,” someone commented. “I was not expecting that.”
Another user added, “Retail worker in me cringing at that cart full of items being left there.” To that, someone replied, “And rubbing all over things that someone else is going to get as a gift.” I’m not going to lie, I thought about that aspect of it too.
At one point, Esbeide says that she “didn’t expect” there to be so many people at Target. She jokes that they are all doing “last minute shopping.” I mean, maybe, yes. But is that not what Target is there for? Esbeide holds bouquets in some shots, and in others, she has a bottle of champagne. Let’s just hope she put everything back where it belonged before she and her photographer dipped.
