Netflix Called Out for Allegedly Hiding a Woman’s Scars for ‘Love Is Blind’ Promo Shots

One would hope that with all those cameras and all the scandalous moments that they love to catch, the production team at Netflix’s Love Is Blind wouldn’t work to deliberately hide the things that make their cast members who they are. Netflix is being called out after fans discovered that in a very weird move, they removed cast member Emma Betsinger’s visible arm scars from undergoing 10 surgeries from their season 10 promo shots.

Fans are calling out Netflix after they remove a cast member’s scars from their promo shots.

Sure, fans are always going to be discussing the shocking romantic moments on Netflix’s Love Is Blind, but something that caught a lot of people’s attention is discovering that Neflix has erased a woman’s scars from their season 10 promo shots.

The cast member is 28-year-old Emma Betsinger, who is an Asian American from Ohio who works in retail merchandising. Emma revealed that before she was even 7 years old, she had undergone 10 surgeries to remove high-risk and precancerous birthmarks on her body.

Most visible was the scarring along her left arm, which is now cause for online speculation as fans have noticed that Netflix have removed her arm scars in their promo shots for the season.

Many Love Is Blind fans are not happy with Netflix for this decision.

In a Reddit thread, fans of the show have been discussing whether or not Netflix “photoshopped” Emma’s arm scars from their Love Is Blind season 10 promo shots. To a lot of them, it appears very clearly that they did.

One redditor remarks that “100% they did” because “if you zoom in, it’s just blurred.” They go on to call this move “pathetic” because Emma is “so beautiful.” Another comment on this thread says that Netflix is “so gross” for doing something like that.

There are a couple of individuals in the discussion thread who are hoping that Netflix decided to erase Emma’s arm scars because they “didn’t [want to spoil] anything that’s going to be discussed in the pods,” but who can know for sure?

Vulnerability and showing who you really are should always be celebrated, not covered up.

In a Tudum by Netflix interview, Emma discussed how her “whole life has been about the physical aspect,” especially when it came to answering questions about her scars, so her time on the show is “the first time [she gets] to showcase [her] personality.”

Emma also shared how while she was growing up, she was “painfully self-conscious of the scars” and they were even the reason why she didn’t date much in middle school and high school.

It’s sad to think that even though Emma has been open and vulnerable about her scars and what they mean to her, the show still decided to erase them from her season 10 promo shot. It just doesn’t seem right.
