When Dan Davis, a 59-year-old suburban Chicago dad, disappeared in November 2025, his daughter Wendy Davis shared his story on social media, hoping he would return. Dan Davis was in a car accident on November 24. After refusing medical treatment, a police officer drove him to his long-time place of employment, 115 Bourbon Street in Merrionette Park. Video surveillance caught Dan Davis stumbling on a curb, which led his daughter to worry her father had suffered a stroke.
Wendy Davis diligently posted on TikTok and maintained the Find Dan Davis Facebook group, but the family’s story didn’t have a happy ending. On March 9, 2026, police found him deceased, leaving his daughter heartbroken.
Dan Davis did not appear impaired at the time of his accident.
@dendywavis FIND DAN DAY 2026 RECAP!!! At long last, sorry for the wait yall. A couple of weeks ago, we had a VERY successful weekend with mass efforts all around the country looking for my dad, Dan Davis. (Successful in terms of gathering together hundreds of good humans with good hearts – sadly we found no clues). The search continues but there is no way we’re giving up!! I miss my dad tremendously. We will find him one way or another. ❤️ #finddandavis #missingpersoncases #chicago ♬ Welcome To The Store (STEM pad) – Homegrown / BMGPM
According to a police report obtained by the Beverly-Mount Greenwood Patch, Dan Davis and another driver had a head-on collision around 11:15 a.m. in front of the Garden Homes Fire Department in Alsip, Illinois. Both Dan Davis and the other driver reportedly refused medical treatment, and police did not suspect impaired driving in the crash. Sadly, officials believe Dan Davis received a head injury during the accident.
Wendy Davis put together a detailed timeline of her father’s accident and disappearance. She noted that he appeared several times on Ring cameras in the area, looking disoriented. He also showed up on surveillance footage after attending Mass at St. Donatus on November 26.
Tragically, police found Dan Davis dead on March 9.
@dendywavis Like I said, I truly don’t know how to thank everybody on here for your kind comments, shares, and for stepping up when we need help with specific things. I posted on here initially to raise awareness, but I never could have anticipated the level of support we ended up with. Dad would be flipped the f out by all of this. Thank you thank you endlessly for finding Dan.

Wendy Davis posted a statement on Facebook on March 10 regarding her dad’s death.
“The update I never wanted to make. Three and a half months of agony has finally come to a close. As of yesterday afternoon, my dad was located, but is no longer with us,” she wrote.
“It’s an eerie feeling – thank god this terrible chapter of constant unknown is finally over. But now starts a new terrible chapter without my smarter, goofier, and relentlessly selfless other half,” the statement continued. “This is the news we’ve all been expecting in a way, but nothing really prepares you for it. I’ve never laughed harder with anybody than I have with my dad. And I can’t wait to do it again someday.”
Wendy Davis then thanked some of the many people and organizations who aided in the search and never gave up hope.
“I truly don’t know how to properly thank everyone here. I won’t ever be able to process how far this reached,” she wrote. “If nothing else, I can confidently say this whole thing gave me so much more faith in humanity. Dad would never ever believe this. He would sure hate being a celebrity though. Lol.”
Thousands had banded with Wendy Davis to find her dad.
She posted several videos during the months-long search for her dad and amassed 120,000 on TikTok alone. The Find Dan Davis Facebook page has 50,000 followers who hoped for good news. Although that’s not how the story ended, one person made a beautiful observation.
“Dan’s story means so much more than meets the eye! It’s an incredible inspirational story to strangers.” Betty Rolon Tunnat shared on Facebook. “A teaching and learning experience that hopefully provides some comfort to your broken hearts.”
The story truly inspired Tunnat, who found the power of love in tragedy. “The example of love and soul connections between a child and their parent. The memories you have shared, you’re making some people see what they’re missing out on. You’re connecting troubled relationships between parents and children,” she added.
We love this take, and from what we know about Dan Davis, we think he would, too.
Wendy Davis did not release her father’s cause of death. The case remains under investigation.
