Ohio 3-Year-Old Heard Screaming & Begging Dogs That Mauled Her to Death for 20 Minutes While Her Dad Slept

There is no pain greater for a parent than losing a child. Whether the little one has died suddenly or after an illness, it’s a truly gut-wrenching experience. But imagine how horrific it would be to have your child’s death caught on camera and played in a courtroom. On December 27, 2024, 3-year-old Kingsley Wright, was sleeping on the couch at her father’s apartment in Ohio when something truly horrific happened. Two pit bulls escaped from their cage and killed the defenseless little girl. Now her father, Warren Houston, is facing charges in her death.

Kingsley died the first time she visited her father’s house.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Houston had learned Kingsley was his daughter just a few months before her death after a paternity test. The little girl celebrated Christmas with her father, but no one could have imagined what would happen just two days later.

According to court documents obtained by the news outlet, Houston’s dogs slept in a cage not far from where Kingsley was sleeping. The bottom level of the cage reportedly had a known malfunction, and the night of the child’s death, the dogs used that to their advantage.

Surveillance inside the home caught the brutal attack.

Prosecutors played the disturbing footage in court on April 16, 2026. Common Pleas Judge Virginia Tallent warned that the video was “uniquely graphic.” She chose not to allow the jury to watch but only to listen. The video, which lasted a grueling 25 minutes, included Kingsley screaming for 20 of those minutes, as the dogs reportedly pulled her hair out and dragged her around the room.

Houston apparently began to sob in court.

As he listened to his daughter’s cries, the father wept. Tallent reportedly allowed him to leave the courtroom so he did not have to relive the pain, the Enquirer reported. The night Kingsley died, Houston and his then-girlfriend were sleeping in another room. Somehow, they slept through the pit bulls mauling Kingsley as she screamed for help.

Kingsley’s death shocked her father.

The night of her death, Houston reportedly told detectives he had rescued one of the dogs from a park a few months earlier. According to court documents obtained by the Enquirer, the dog had scars, and Houston had to nurse it back to health. He believed the animal was used as a “bait dog” for fighting. Houston reportedly told police he’d never had an issue with either dog before. But as we know, it only takes one time for life to change completely.

Kingsley had a short but beautiful life.

The little girl was loving and well-loved, according to her obituary. “Kingsley was a happy girl with a beautiful laugh and smile. She loved to sing and dance for her family and always saw the positive and bright side of everything around her,” the obituary reads.

Kingsley was getting to know her daddy when tragedy struck. We cannot imagine the heartache Houston feels. He finally got to celebrate Christmas with his baby and now faces charges of child endangerment and involuntary manslaughter.

If Houston really knew that the cage was faulty, his little girl shouldn’t have been out there alone. Even if they were the sweetest dogs in the world. It’s just not worth it.
