Even when Karoline Leavitt is on maternity leave, she’s able to worm her way into the hearts and minds of the rest of the country. Well, hearts might be a stretch, especially when it comes to those who love to critique her. But, either way, after she posted her Mother’s Day gift in 2026, she certainly got some attention.
A user shared a screenshot of Leavitt’s Instagram Story post in their own post on X (formerly Twitter). Leavitt’s post showed a photo of a Louis Vuitton box with her perfectly manicured hand on top of it. This is while the country is going through an economic crisis, the war in Iran is definitely still a thing, and people’s rights are being taken away. But go off with your designer bag, sure.
Her gift cost thousands of dollars.

Although the X post doesn’t show what’s in the box, a user commented on a Reddit thread to show the bag Leavitt apparently received from her husband and two young children for Mother’s Day. According to the user, it was a $4,800 bag. So yeah, she is as out of touch as people called her out for being.
The person who made the X post wrote, “Nothing says ‘we understand struggling Americans’ quite like flexing Louis Vuitton while people can’t afford groceries and gas.”
“She had a $1,300+ Hermes baby blanket displayed as well,” another person wrote in the comments under the X post.
Someone else pointed out, “It’s fine that she got it’ it’s tacky to brag about it online. Just trashy.”
People called her out for being hypocritical and out of touch.
It’s not like anyone really expects Leavitt to take a step back and wonder if she is being insensitive to other people or even how she might be perceived by those who have far less than she does. But no one expected her to flaunt it either. How can she have plausible deniability about being out of touch and hypocritical when she does nothing to hide or even seem humble about her wealth?
“The disproportion of wealth is sickening,” a person wrote on X, in response to Leavitt’s Mother’s Day gift post.
“This administration is so f–king clue…..no, they know what they are doing,” a user also shared. “Proving they don’t give a f–k about this country or her people.”
Someone added, “Yeah she’s a grifter who’s getting it from a 60 year old. She’s the trash.”
It also didn’t help that in another Instagram Story post for Mother’s Day, Leavitt shared a photo of her hand holding her baby’s hand. That on its own is totally fine. It’s the larger-than-life rock on her ring finger that takes center stage in the photo that really does it.

Well before Leavitt shared her Mother’s Day gift in 2026, she was unafraid to show off designer outfits and jewelry without a care in the world. So really, this is sort of on brand for the press secretary, even if it’s a bit much for some folks to handle. In 2025, Women’s Wear Daily reported that Leavitt had been, up until that point, spotted out in $1,125 Jimmy Choo heels and with a $2,130 Louis Vuitton bag.
She continued to sport designer clothes and accessories into 2026, with no real evidence that she plans to show down any time soon. It’s giving the Capitol in The Hunger Games. And, even if Leavitt doesn’t seem to mind the energy she’s presenting, people aren’t afraid to call her out for it.
