Kai Trump’s Clothing Brand Is Facing Three Separate Controversies & They’re All Getting Louder

In some ways, the Trump family is full of grifters who know how to turn their name into a brand, a book deal, a whole presidency, or, in this case, a clothing line that gets a lot of flack. That’s the case for Kai Trump, whose clothing brand has garnered lots of criticisms due to a number of factors. I mean, sure, some of the reasons might be because people hate Donald Trump and, by extension, also hate Kai, but there are some other reasons too.

Her brand, simply called Kai Trump, features a logo with her initials that is splashed on every clothing item front and center. And her website for the brand shows photos of Kai in her clothes all over the White House grounds. That alone has annoyed many, but the grievances with Kai’s brand goes beyond questions of ethics regarding where she took her promotional photos.

Taylor Swift fans think Kai Trump stole her clothing brand logo from Travis Kelce.

One of the reasons Kai has some haters when it comes to her brand is her logo. It just so happens that Travis Kelce also has a brand with a logo using his own initials and, well, both Kai and Travis have the same initials. Travis’s line is called Tru Kolors, which also uses the “TK” for its logo. In this case, it’s more of a coincidence, at least it seems that way. But Swifties aren’t happy about this particular coincidence, to be honest.

On a Reddit thread about the design, someone commented to share how they think the hypothetical conversation between Kai and Trump went down.

“Hey grandpa, when I was at the mall, I saw this great idea for a company in this other store already being done.”

“Cool. Let me make a few phone calls to China and we will get you into production by lunch.”

Another user commented, “The fact she’s using the White House as part of her marketing. This country has fallen so low — what a tragedy.”

Someone else wrote, “I’m never buying the sweatshirt, but it’s disturbing that the Trumps feel entitled enough to put this on a child while her grandfather holds a press conference. This family has no shame — anything for a buck, even at the expense of the American people.”

Kai Trump was also slammed for how much her clothes from her fashion line cost.

Even if Kai’s design wasn’t so close to the one Travis has used, and even if she didn’t use the White House for marketing, Kai’s clothing line would still likely be criticized for its prices. Her sweatshirts, according to The Wall Street Journal, will run you $130. For a plain sweatshirt with her initials on them. This is her big project that she has stood behind despite so much push-back from critics.

I guess she’s hoping that her customers in higher income brackets will open their wallets to her. Because Grandpa Don’s Amazon bestie Jeff Bezos is selling plain sweatshirts for a fraction of that and we all know it.

She took promotional photos at the White House.

There are pictures of Kai at the White House on the website for her brand. She is seen on one of the White House lawns, in an outdoor corridor, and holding a golf club. After she received criticism for taking promotional photos there, where the general public would never be permitted, the White House released a statement in her defense.

Per The Independent, the White House said, “There is no prohibition against taking pictures on White House grounds, nor is there a government endorsement of her product, so there is no issue here.”
