What to Know
You had to expect that the studios who approve those fancy popcorn buckets for movies would do Supergirl dirty. As it stands, the movie hardly got any publicity surrounding the trailer and promotion, so it’s hard not to imagine it has something to do with this being a supergirl rather than a superman. Hey, we were all thinking it. Well, most of us, anyway.
Maybe more of us might consider that now that the Supergirl popcorn buckets and cups were released ahead of the movie’s June 2026 premiere. Because yes, there are dedicated containers to the title character herself, but the most intricate popcorn bucket available at theaters has nothing to do with her at all.
The main cool ‘Supergirl’ popcorn bucket is for another character.

A user on TikTok shared a screenshot of the Supergirl popcorn buckets and drink cups designed especially as collector’s items for fans of the movie. And, she points out in the video, the really interesting popcorn bucket doesn’t even have Supergirl on it.
“Nothing about this is funny to me. Like, it’s the Supergirl movie, and the cool, fun popcorn bucket is of the guy, whoever this is,” the TikTok user says in her video. “Like, she’s literally Supergirl. This is Supergirl we’re talking about, and this is who the fun, interactive popcorn bucket is of. What?”
The intricate popcorn bucket in question is the villain of the movie, Lobo, on his Spacehog. Another popcorn bucket is available as an open tin with the Supergirl symbol, but you might also expect the more detailed popcorn bucket to include Supergirl herself.
By now, we’re all pretty used to popcorn buckets that are over the top and designed to make money rather than actually eat popcorn in. Some theaters even sell out of the buckets ahead of the movie premiere they’re designed for. And when Superman came out in 2025, the available popcorn buckets included one that looks like a popcorn machine with Superman using his laser eyes to heat the kernels. Another was a tin designed to look like a Daily Planet newspaper box.
“Supergirl summer but most of the merch is of Lobo or whatever his name is,” a user commented on the TikTok video.
“And you know what? Let me add something,” another commenter wrote. “Why is SUPERMAN in so much promo??? It’s not his movie…I want to see my girl.”
Someone also pointed out, “Her pod was RIGHT THERE, IN PERFECT POPCORN BUCKET SHAPE.” It’s true. Supergirl’s pod from Krypton has the perfect shape for a potential popcorn bucket, but no. Apparently that was not in the cards for fans this time around.
There is a collectible ‘Supergirl’ tin, but it’s not quite the same thing.

Before anyone wants to point out that there is a popcorn tin with Supergirl herself in mind, yes, there is. But anyone can have a popcorn tin with the iconic Superman and Supergirl logo on it. This is about the popcorn tin that studios chose to sign off on that features the main male character. And yes, there is a cup too, but we aren’t here to talk about those. We are here to demand that Supergirl get her own intricate popcorn bucket instead of Lobo.
The ‘Supergirl’ cup is a little strange on its own.

Then, there’s the Supergirl cup. It is designed with Supergirl’s costume and her tan jacket that she has worn over her costume, open. However, the user who posted the TikTok points out in her video, the tan trench coat looks more like something else entirely, especially around a cylindrical cup.
“This is why we need DEI,” she says. “Because this had to get through so many rounds of approval. And anybody who has eyes, who has seen a penis before, can agree that from far away, before your eyes, focus. When you first look at this, it looks like one. I don’t want this in my home. I don’t want this.”
