Maternal Instinct does a great job of introducing us to the who, what, and where of Parker’s crimes. True crime fans have reportedly flocked to Parker’s hometown to see where she lived. Some have even visited the hospital where she was ultimately arrested.

McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma, posted a message on social media following the documentary drop. Staff reminded people that a hospital is a place for people to receive medical treatment and not for gawking.

The hospital didn’t mince words.

McCurtain Memorial Hospital claims it’s received multiple calls from people interested in Parker following Maternal Instinct’s release and they’d like to take a tour of the hospital. The hospital has no interest in honoring such requests.

“While the events portrayed were real and remain a matter of public record, they also represent one of the most painful chapters in the lives of the victim’s family, the New Boston community, and the healthcare professionals who responded that day. For many, the emotional impact of this tragedy has never fully faded,” the Facebook post reads.

“This is not a story of entertainment or a destination for tourism. It is a story of devastating loss. Out of respect for those affected, including the family, our staff, and the community, McCurtain Memorial Hospital will not participate in interviews, photo opportunities, tours, or discussions related to these events,” the hospital added.

Hospital personnel stated it will not comment on Parker and reminded true crime fans that two lives were lost in October 2020.

“Today, we remember the mother and child whose lives were taken, and we continue to hold their loved ones in our thoughts. We also acknowledge the lasting impact this tragedy had on the first responders, nurses, physicians, and hospital staff who worked tirelessly in its aftermath,” the message reads.

“The New Boston community will forever carry the scars of this loss, and many members of our team continue to carry those memories as well.”

Many lauded the hospital for its decision to distance itself from Parker’s crimes.

While the story is certainly of interest to plenty of people, many agreed that a hospital is not a tourist destination.

“I get that true crime buffs want to visit scenes but in no way should you watch that documentary and leave it thinking oh wow i want to go probe that hospital. What the heck,” someone wrote.

This person agreed. “Thank you for standing up and respecting this family, our first responders, hospital staff, and policemen. It’s not a circus show, it’s our home, community and families,” they added.

“Very well worded statement. Just so sad such a statement would even be necessary,” another person pointed out.
