A Florida mother wound up in handcuffs after posting two alarming videos on social media before allegedly setting her kitchen on fire. Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue arrived at the home of 26-year-old Meliza Campos-Sanchez on August 16, 2026, after reports of a fire inside the kitchen.
An investigator reportedly determined the fire was set intentionally and linked the alleged arson to Campos-Sanchez. Not only did the mother reportedly start the fire with her two children in the home, but she also posted a video pouring hot wax on them. Police arrested Campos-Sanchez, who now faces multiple charges.
Campos-Sanchez posted two bizarre videos.
Campos-Sanchez, who posts on Instagram as @melizasanchez, posted two videos back-to-back on August 16. In the first, she’s dancing around in a short dress with a mask on, holding a lighter. She poured hot wax on her chest before dancing provocatively and pulling up her skirt.
“Because your daughters will forget you. I’ll be her daddy and mommy. You sent me to kill yourself hahaha that’s why your hate look. The night I was laying on the floor stunned. but you didn’t win. I told you I always win,” she wrote in the caption translated from Spanish to English. “I got kids that nobody nobody will take care of like me.”
In the second video, she appears to pour hot wax on her frightened daughters. “Nothing and no one touches my daughters. How sad all this is not a game. It’s real. They don’t even trust the fathers of their daughters,” she wrote.
A friend alerted Campos-Sanchez’s husband.
According to court documents obtained by People, after Campos-Sanchez posted the videos, a friend contacted her husband, Yusniel Cue, to warn him about what they saw online.
By the time he got to the home, police and fire officials were already there. He took custody of the children and shared some disturbing information with police.
Campos-Sanchez and Cue reportedly had marital issues.
Cue told police he and his wife were separated, and he’d been staying with his parents nearby. He claimed Campos-Sanchez attempted suicide the week before and he’d contacted the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office concerned about his wife’s mental health.
When police spoke to the couple’s eldest daughter, she reportedly told investigators that she and her sister were in the laundry room earlier in the day when their mother set fire to clothing in the kitchen. The child claimed her mother used a bowl of water to put out the fire.
Campos-Sanchez is facing mounting legal issues.
Police arrested Campos-Sanchez, who faces charges of first-degree arson, child abuse, and child neglect. Police took her into custody and booked her at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Institution. Per a release from the United States Department of Homeland Security, Campos-Sanchez entered the country illegally from Cuba in 2022. U.S. Following her arrest, Immigration and Customs Enforcement lodged a detainer requesting authorities not release her from jail.
