The whole royal family is actually pretty funny, but it's no surprise that one of the most humorous among them is Prince Harry. Maybe it's the Princess Diana genes, maybe it's being the spare and having a little less pressure on him, but he's been a wise-cracking prankster since he was a kid sticking his tongue out at the paparazzi. And his sense of humor just got better with age as he stepped into his dad joke era after becoming a father. To be fair, he was making some dad jokes long before he was actually a dad himself, but that just makes it funnier.
Harry is quick to poke fun at himself — self-deprecating humor is one of his favorites — but no one around him is safe from a joke or two. Over the years, he's joked about his hair, his wife's pregnancy, his brother, his dad, his baby nephew, and more. And those are just the one-liners he said publicly to the media. We're sure he had a bunch of jokes he'd say in private too. To read some of his funniest dad jokes over the years, keep scrolling.

Poking Fun at Charles

What's better than a dad joke? A dad joke about a dad. At the Living Legends of Aviation Awards earlier this year, Harry poked fun at his father's flying skills. "I think I was maybe 7 or 8 years old in a Wessex helicopter, and I jumped into it so excited. And then my father jumped in behind the controls and I was terrified," he said, per Entertainment Tonight.
Charging for Babysitting
After the birth of Prince George, Harry made a joke about looking after his nephew. "I hope my brother knows how expensive my babysitting charges are," he said, according to the Daily Mail. It's funny because Will is never going to need a babysitter when he can have a full-time nanny. But Harry would be a pretty fun babysitter to have.
Escaping Home
Before he had his own kids, Harry poked fun at William being a dad quite a bit. Another joke he made was about how his brother probably wished that he was going on Harry's trip to Antarctica. "I think he's just quite jealous I managed to get away from a screaming child," he joked, according to Express. Prince George was only a few months old at the time, so William probably did kind of want a break.

Prince George Comparison

Harry must have gotten some nephew time in before a trip to Chile where he reportedly compared George to a famous British leader. According to The Telegraph, he told a radio presenter that George "has big, chubby cheeks. He looks like a young Winston Churchill." Honestly we could kind of see it — especially when George was a grumpy baby.
Mocking William Again

When William and Kate's second pregnancy was announced, Harry was quick to poke fun at his brother. Us Weekly reported that Harry joked, "I can't wait to see my brother suffer more. If it's a girl, he'll suffer even more. I'd love to see him try and cope with that." Of course, we now know that Kate's second child was indeed a girl — Princess Charlotte.
Baby Clothes

In a documentary about his mother called Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, Harry poked fun at how silly some of his childhood outfits were. "I genuinely think she got satisfaction out of dressing myself and William up in the most bizarre outfits – normally matching. It was weird shorts and little shiny shoes," Harry said, according to Hello! magazine. He added with a laugh, "I sure as hell am going to dress my kids up the same way."
We don't get to see Archie and Lilibet much, but here's hoping they have some matching weird shorts and shiny shoes in their closets.
Best Man Request
Reporters wanted to know how Harry had asked William to be his best man for his wedding. According to People, Harry had a quip ready to go. "How did I ask? Got down on one knee." Perhaps Harry felt uncomfortable because as he later revealed in his book Spare, William wasn't actually asked to be his best man at all, according to the Mirror.
Prince of Sarcasm
Harry didn't wait until his first kid was born to start telling dad jokes. When a well-wisher congratulated Meghan on her newly announced pregnancy, Harry quipped sarcastically, "What? You're pregnant? Is it mine?" Meghan responded with a laugh, saying, "Surprise!"
Archie's Baby Face
It's not uncommon for new parents to say which features of their baby may have come from which parent. But Harry didn't compare Archie's nose or lips to his own. HuffPost reported that he joked, "He's already got a little bit of facial hair as well." Good one, Harry.
New Dad Sleep Schedule

Only Harry could turn flying commercial into a positive because it meant better sleep than he was getting as a new dad. When he went to Amsterdam on a work trip shortly after Archie's birth, he was quick to celebrate his well-rested evening — even though he traveled without his private jet. "Having spent last night here, I don't know about you guys, but it was definitely the best night's sleep I've had in the last four months," he said, according to Us Weekly.
Bald Jokes

During a visit to Ireland in 2018, a young fan gifted Harry a sketch she'd drawn of him. "You've given me more hair," he reportedly told her, according to the Mirror. Harry, like his brother and father, is losing some of his hair — but at least he has a sense of humor about it.
Being a Ginger
Harry's famous for his red hair, and he likes to draw attention to it in a jokey way. In 2023, he performed a comedy monologue for the veterans event Stand Up For Heroes. He had a few words to say about being a carrot top. "Due to the shockingly low representation of gingers last year, and out of respect for my fellow endangered species, here I am, reporting for duty," he said, according to the Mirror.
Trial Humor
Sarcastic Harry was back in full force during his phone hacking court case against Mirror Group Newspapers (which he ended up winning). According to Newsweek, the judge told him not to discuss his testimony with anybody else, and he joked that he wouldn't even tell his kids during their upcoming FaceTime call. We can almost hear the eye roll from here.
Joking With the Queen

The late Queen Elizabeth was actually known for having quite a sense of humor herself, so it's fitting that Harry's last conversation with her was filled with jokes. According to the Daily Star, he wrote in his book that the two of them had discussed the lack of rain in their final phone call. "The lawn at Frogmore, where Meg and I were staying, was in terrible shape. 'Looks like the top of my head, Granny! Balding and brown in patches,'" Harry said.
She must have gotten a kick out of that.
Dark Humor

Harry can turn a dad joke into a dark joke in a matter of moments. According to Hello! magazine, he and William reminisced about how the walk at Queen Elizabeth's funeral was similar to their mother's funeral. "We sort of joked to each other and said, 'At least we know the way,'" Harry said. Sometimes laughter helps get us through the pain.
Popcorn Prank
We should have known that Harry would be a funny dad when he played this popcorn prank on a youngster sitting next to him at the Invictus Games. When Harry noticed the toddler was swiping some of his snacks, he jokingly moved the popcorn container out of reach and made a fake-mad face. Then of course he ended up sharing, because he's a prankster not a monster.
