We knew that Khloe Kardashian's Good American jeans were expensive, but should people have to work hours of overtime just to afford one pair of them? Not surprisingly, Khloe is getting backlash after a woman tweeted to Khloe that she'd have to work 20 hours to buy a pair of her jeans — and Khloe thought her efforts were "cute." Yikes!
The whole thing started on Twitter, as it usually does.
Whoa — 20 hours to afford one pair of Good American jeans — which cost in the neighborhood of $160 per pair — is a lot. We get that a pair of jeans that fit perfectly are hard to find, but that's so many hours to put in for just one pair of pants, and we really feel for her.
And when Khloe saw the tweet, her reaction was ... a little strange.
We wouldn't call it cute that someone has to work that long to afford a single pair of jeans — especially when Khloe has never been in that position in her life. And apparently, a lot of people also felt the same way, because Twitter lit up with outraged responses.
Many people pointed out how upsetting this was.
Others blamed the fact that the fan's wage is too low.
This is a valid point — no one can live on $9.45 an hour or less. So maybe if Khloe brought her prices down a bit and the US raised its minimum wage a bit, we could all be happy? Just a thought …
And this tweet said what we're all thinking.
Come on, Khloe. If Kim Kardashian were the one called out in the tweet, we know she would have sent the fan an entire box of free jeans.
Maybe Khloe is sending her a box full of goodies as we speak?
We know a true Good American fan when we see one, and if this woman is willing to work so many hours and pick up extra shifts just to buy one pair of jeans, we think she's earned a special treat straight from Khloe herself.
We get that Khloe is totally entitled to ask for whatever she thinks her product is worth — but in this case, we also get why people are so pissed. Let's just hope that this is a bit of a wakeup call!
