Over a year after Queen Elizabeth died at the age of 96 while staying at her estate in Balmoral, one former prime minister is sharing intimate details about her health at the end of her life. In his new memoir, Boris Johnson claims that the queen was battling bone cancer and shared the story of the last time they were able to meet in person before her death.

Boris and Queen Elizabeth met in person just days before she died.
Days before Elizabeth’s 2022 death, Boris had stepped down as prime minister, paving the way for Liz Truss to take his place. Not only did Boris travel to Balmoral Castle to signify the end of his time serving the UK, but Liz did as well, and the monarch invited her to form a new administration.
Her meeting with Liz took place on September 6, and Elizabeth died two days later on September 8.
Boris described his final meeting with the queen in his book.
In his upcoming memoir, Unleashed, Boris wrote that the queen’s health seemed to be declining.
“She seemed pale and more stooped, and she had dark bruising on her hands and wrists, probably from drips or injections,” he wrote, via GMA. “She had known all summer that she was going, but was determined to hang on and do her last duty.”
He also claimed that she had bone cancer.
“I had known for a year or more that she had a form of bone cancer, and her doctors were worried that at any time she could enter a sharp decline,” he said.
The queen never publicly shared that she was suffering from cancer, and the palace hasn’t confirmed or denied Boris’ claim.

This isn't the first time a claim like this has been made involving the queen and cancer.
As the New York Post pointed out, royal expert Richard Jobson wrote in his book Catherine: The Princess of Wales that the queen had been diagnosed with a bone marrow cancer called myeloma that left her feeling “frail.”
“She struggled terribly with her eyesight and had low vision. She even had difficulty lifting a full teapot to pour into her cup,” a source told Richard in the book.
Reportedly, her condition was already going downhill by the time her platinum jubilee began in the summer of 2022, but she was determined to make it through the festivities.
Boris called the day Elizabeth died the 'country's saddest day.'
In a statement he shared on Elizabeth’s passing, he wrote, “as we think of the void she leaves, we understand the vital role she played, selflessly and calmly embodying the continuity and unity of our country.”
He added, “This is our country’s saddest day because she had a unique and simple power to make us happy.”
