Teen Mom fans are questioning a video posted by Chelsea Houska that features her teen daughter, Aubree DeBoer. Critics were left confused by several things that were happening in a video promoting a new product at their store, branding the clip “weird” and “jarring.”
Chelsea and Aubree were part of a photo shoot to promote a new product.
Chelsea and her husband, Cole DeBoer, own Aubree Says, an online store that sells everything from candles, tumblers, beanies, and fuzzy slippers to mixing bowls and stylized vases.
To promote the news that they’ve partnered with cellphone case brand Walli Cases, the family shared a video featuring their 13-year-old daughter, Aubree.
The video featured Chelsea, Aubree, and Cole.
Set to some country-style music, flashes of each of the family members holding their phones — or two phones for Chelsea — showed off the different cases now available.
Everyone looked great, but critics were confused over the video for a few reasons, including the outfit that Chelsea was wearing and the props Aubree had in her shots.
Fans discussed the photos and video on Reddit.
On Reddit’s TeenMomOGandTeenMom2 community, critics and fans debated the video posted by Chelsea and aired their confusion.
“Why is Chelsea holding two phones and wearing chaps?” one person wrote. “And why is there a shopping cart? I'm so confused.”
“I’ve never seen a shopping cart used as a photography prop before,” another person wrote.
“What’s with the shopping cart in a field?” another person asked. “Totally weird.”
“The shopping cart is apparently some trendy thing teens are doing?" wrote someone else.
They also questioned what Chelsea was wearing, with people confused by her pants choice.
“I just noticed those chaps look one with the jeans!” wrote another critic. “It's straight up just one pair of pants.”
“I can’t stop staring at the pants CHELSEA GIRL WHAT ARE YOU DOING IT LOOKS LIKE A DENIM DIAPER," wrote someone else.
“Hahahah this is such a bad advertisement,” another wrote, and another person shared: “The shopping cart and chaps are not it.”
“Okay I’m going to sound like an old cranky lady (and a hypocrite because I use my phone more than I’d like) but this is just a horribly jarring ‘commercial’ for the typical American family,” someone else added. “Everyone has a phone covering their face. I can’t see them. They aren’t enjoying being together or nature or whatever, they are seeing everything behind a screen. Nothing about it makes me want to buy a phone or case.”
Despite people’s feelings for the video ad, fans were happy to see Aubree doing her thing.
“Aubree is so cute,” one person shared, with another adding, “This does not make me want to buy that cell phone case lmao. But Aubree looks rad!”
“This is whack but aubree looks gorgeous,” shared someone else.
“Aubrey is the only one in this ad that doesn't look totally crazy,” noted another person. “Love her hair, outfit, makeup, she's the cutest.”
