A sneak peak of The Flip Off has sparked more public drama between Christina Haack and her estranged husband Josh Hall. Though Christina and Josh announced their split in July 2024, the intense interaction featured in the recent promotional clip clearly occurred before they officially called it quits. After HGTV shared the sneak peek, in which Josh said he wished Christina would “shut up already,” some fans jumped to Christina’s defense. However, Josh has described the clip as “manufactured drama,” and it doesn’t sound like he’s very happy about it.

The HGTV clip showed a conversation between Christina and Josh.
In the clip, Josh and Christina rode in the car together. “This is a competition. We gotta pull out all stops. Whatever it takes to win, Iâll do it. Halls rule!” Josh said while driving. When Christina didn’t say anything, Josh added, “Youâre supposed to say it with me, or repeat it, or something that shows that youâre with me.â
“Remember, youâre a Hall now,” he added. “Donât get confused in this competition about what your last name is.â Fans noticed that the interaction seemed pretty one-sided, as Christina didn’t say much in the clip. Then, when she didn’t respond once again, Josh said, “Youâre rude.”
In the clip, Josh also said, “My wifeâs p—ing me off already.”
A few days later, Josh criticized HGTV for sharing the clip.
He called the network out via his Instagram Stories. “TFW when you canât get enough ratings with celebrity [home] designers, so you rely on manufactured drama with me, a nobody,” Josh wrote. “@HGTV youâve changed.”

Christina responded via her own Instagram Stories.
After Josh spoke out about the alleged “manufactured drama,” Christina fired back at him by sharing his post to her Instagram Stories and refuting his claims. “Manufactured?!” she wrote over Josh’s post. “Pretty sure no one told you to be rude to me …. That was all natural.”
In a second post, Christina shared a selfie that showed her crying. She said she took the photo on June 21, 2024, after working with Josh. “This was taken June 21, 2024. After one of my shoots with Josh,” Christina wrote over the emotional selfie. “This is ‘real’ and a reminder to myself that I deserve better.”
Many fans thought the HGTV sneak peek was difficult to watch.
Though Josh accused HGTV of manufacturing the drama, some fans who watched the promotional video thought his behavior seemed extremely concerning.
One person commented on the video: “That was rough to watch. Abuse comes in many different varieties.”
Others really didn’t like the way Josh said, “Remember, you’re a Hall now.”
“Thatâs his way of diminishing who she is while trying to build himself up and saying you werenât good enough as you but now that youâre married to me, Iâm gonna build you up,” another fan commented.
Even Heather El Moussa, who is now married to Christina’s first husband, Tarek El Moussa, commented on the video and defended Christina. “Not everyone makes the cut â and thatâs the real reality,” Heather wrote.
Even though Christina, Tarek, and Heather decided to move forward on the show without Josh, he has still appeared in promo clips for 'The Flip Off.'
In another clip that HGTV has shared to promote the show, Christina talked to Tarek about her split from Josh. “We had a blow up ⌠middle fingers in my face,” Christina told Tarek in the clip, describing her breakup. “Things with Josh have been bad for a long time.â
Later, she told him that their kids noticed that Josh didn’t treat her very well. “The kids literally asked me to leave,” she told Tarek, referring to the two children that they share: Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9. âThey told me heâs not nice to me. Why would I stick around?â
