Donald Trump Says Taylor Swift Will ‘Pay a Price’ for Endorsing Kamala Harris

Taylor Swift's endorsement of Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 election finally arrived after Tuesday night's debate, and it doesn't seem like the other candidate is taking it very well! Donald Trump has responded to Taylor throwing her support behind his opponent, and not only did he point out that he isn't a Swiftie, but he also mentioned that he prefers one of her friends.

Taylor announced her presidential pick on Tuesday.

As soon as the debate between Harris and Trump came to an end on Tuesday night, Taylor made her political stance very clear with a post on Instagram.

"I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election," she wrote. "I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos. I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate @timwalz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades."

Taylor also called Trump out in her post.

She said that after Trump posted AI-generated images of her (and her fans) on social media that made it appear she had endorsed him, she felt particularly compelled to speak up about the election.

"Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation," she wrote. "It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth."

Now, it appears that the former president isn't too happy with her.

Calling in to Fox & Friends on Wednesday morning, Trump said he preferred her friend, Brittany Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes' wife, who recently landed herself in some hot water for showing her support for Trump on Instagram.

“Well I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better. If you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan," he said. "I was not a Taylor Swift fan. It was only a matter of time. You couldn’t possibly endorse Biden. But she’s a very liberal person. She seems to always endorse a Democrat and she’ll probably pay a price for it in the marketplace.

"But I like Brittany. Brittany is great," he continued. "She’s the one I like much better than Taylor Swift. Wife of the great quarterback. I think she’s terrific.”

His running mate had a few choice words for her, too.

After Taylor's endorsement of Harris went public, vice presidential hopeful JD Vance appeared on Fox News show The Story to share his thoughts. Apparently, he isn't concerned about Taylor influencing the election, because as a billionaire, she's not in touch with the common man's problems.

"We admire Taylor Swift’s music, but I don’t think most Americans, whether they like her music or are fans of hers or not, are going to be influenced by a billionaire celebrity who I think is fundamentally disconnected from the interests and the problems of most Americans," he said.

"Look, when grocery prices go by 20%, it hurts most Americans. It doesn’t hurt Taylor Swift," Vance added. "When housing prices become unaffordable, it doesn’t affect Taylor Swift or any other billionaire. It does affect middle class Americans all over our country."

Taylor doesn't seem too bothered by the criticism.

On Wednesday night, she danced her heart out at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she scooped up seven brand-new moon men to take home — and officially became the celebrity with the most VMA wins in the award show's history.

Not too shabby!
