Drew Barrymore Shaves for First Time in Months After Saying She’s Not Good With Self-Care

Don't come for Drew Barrymore with self-care suggestions. The actress-turned-talk-show-host has some very strong opinions about what counts as self-care, and bubble baths don't make the cut. That's good news because Drew just revealed that a recent attempt at personal grooming went hilariously awry, which is likely why she prefers more practical approaches to taking care of her mental and physical health.

Drew doesn't make shaving a regular part of her morning routine.

On Monday, the 48-year-old mom of two provided a little TMI when she shared a video of herself from inside her bathroom. She was wrapped in a bath towel and still had some shaving cream visible under her arms.

"You cannot make this stuff up," she captioned the Instagram clip. "Just a moment that I will not let get the best of me … I'll laugh instead."

She then explained how she ended up outside of her tub in the middle of taking a bath.

She evidently had been preparing to do some long-overdue personal grooming when a loud noise interrupted her bath. "I was finally shaving after three months," she explains on camera. "But the house alarm is going off so …"

The video then cuts off and comes back once the alarm has been turned off. "It's fixed," Drew tells her viewers.

Fans know just how rare this moment of personal attention was to Drew because she doesn't really make stuff like this a priority in her life.

In a March interview, Drew admitted that she has an unusual way of caring for her mental health.

While chatting with InStyle, she shared her thoughts on self-care. "Self-care and I are not friends," she declared. "My legs aren't shaven. I try to clip my nails down because I don't like dirt under them."

She added that although she does try to keep up an exercise routine, sometimes it's not possible to squeeze workouts into her busy schedule.

Instead, she gets her inner peace another way.

"Self-care for me is having my kids' stuff organized to get out the door in the morning, lined up. That's self-care," she explained. "It doesn't seem like it, but it is, because this f—ing bubble bath approach is so irritating."

Drew added that most of the typical self-care practices don't bring her joy. "Having my kids' stuff in a system, lined up — their shoes and their jackets and their backpacks — that makes me feel like I won the morning."

Parents everywhere can likely relate to that one.

Shaving may not really rank high on Drew's to-do list, but at least she was able to laugh about her struggles.
