Halle Berry Was Denied a Court Order for Her Ex-Husband To Attend Co-Parenting Therapy

A superior judge has denied Halle Berry's request for court intervention in her and her ex-husband's co-parenting agreement. The 57-year-old actress and her ex, Olivier Martinez, share 9-year-old son Maceo. According to Halle, the 58-year-old French actor hasn't been seeing a co-parenting coach, which had been agreed upon by the former couple. Fed up, Halle sought court intervention to force her ex to attend co-parenting therapy, but unfortunately to no avail.

The former couple made an agreement in May 2024.

According to court papers obtained by People, on May 29, 2024, Halle and Olivier agreed to attend co-parenting therapy with a coach in order to "resolve disputes and conflicts between them in an effort to successfully co-parent" their son. But the actress says that her ex-husband has failed to attend.

Halle says her ex 'terminated' the sessions without telling her.

According to Halle, Olivier "unilaterally terminated" coaching sessions without letting her know, as stated in a new filing in the Superior Court of California in Los Angeles County. She says that her ex "has chosen to repeatedly violate agreements and court orders with careless regard."

She believes his behavior is harmful to their son.

Halle added that Olivier's alleged "conduct harms" their son and the former couple's "already strained relationship." Therefore, she wanted the court to "enforce Olivier's compliance" and make him attend at least one more meeting before the end of July and to continue with the previously agreed schedule in August.

The judge denied the request for this reason.

According to the court documents, Judge Shelley Kaufman denied the actress' request due to "lack of exigent circumstances," meaning that the situation wasn't deemed as an urgent matter.

According to Halle, Olivier "refuses to complete the necessary paperwork that would allow the coparenting therapist to speak to necessary third parties." She says that he was the one who recommended co-parenting therapy, claiming that it was a tactic to "delay intervention at all costs" and "interfere with Halle's relationship with Maceo without repercussion."
