Halloween is just around the corner, and leading to the last day of October, we love to scare ourselves, and we have a whole month to do it. Horror movies are one way to help pump everyone up for the scary adventures of Halloween, and some of the stories are beyond just scary — they're memorably terrifying.
In anticipation of Halloween night, Netflix is rolling out the best horror movies just in time for the holiday. Horror movies aren't for everyone. They raise our heart rate, give us nightmares, and have us questioning decisions that we make due to the situations we see happen in the show. As terrifying as they are, they're also good for a spook.
Sometimes, it's good to be a little scared – on our own terms, of course.

'Cape Fear'

He wants revenge, and stalks the family who now have to do what they can to stay safe. Robert De Niro is absolutely terrifying in Cape Fear.
'House Of 1,000 Corpses'

In House of 1,000 Corpses, a group of friends had the brilliant idea to travel across the backwoods of Texas to write a guidebook about the offbeat roadside attractions along the way. They end up finding themselves prisoners of a terrifying family of serial killers, so it's safe to say things take a turn for the worse.
'We Have Always Lived in the Castle'

After a tragedy from six years before, two young adults, and their uncle, Julian, live in isolation due to their experience. When their cousin arrives to take the family fortune, he also threatens to unleash a dark secret the entire family has been hiding. Nothing is what it seems.

There isn't a lot of information about this movie, other than the general plot, which sounds perfectly terrifying. A group of friends who live in the Bronx are forced to fight a band of vampires so they can save their neighborhood. Will they, or won't they? Can they save everyone?
'Hubie Halloween'

Hubie Halloween follows Hubie Dubois, who spends every Halloween making sure all the residents of his hometown of Salem celebrate the evening and play by all the rules. His tasks have been thankless for years, but this year, an escaped criminal, and a new neighbor, has Hubie especially on edge.
'A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting'

In A Babysitter's Guide to Monster Hunting, the main character, Kelly, agreed to a babysitting job to watch Jacob on Halloween night. As it turns out, she was recruited into an international secret society of babysitters who were tasked with protecting kids with special powers from the monsters who wanted to get ahold of them.
'Unfriended'

The online world changed the way we connect with people, and that's the focus of this horror-mystery movie. In Unfriended, a group of online chat room friends spend time getting to know one another through the computer screens, but they find themselves haunted by a supernatural force: someone posing as the account of their dead friend.
'ParaNorman'

This animated movie is the only of its kind on this list. Following the story of a misunderstood young boy, Norman finds himself with the ability to communicate with the dead. Nevertheless, he has to take on zombies, ghosts, and grown-ups to help save his beloved town from a curse that's stood for centuries.
'Rebecca'

In this film, a handsome widower remarries a younger woman after the death of his first wife, Rebecca. He and his new wife settle at his family's estate on the English coast. However, the psychological thriller takes the viewer on an intense ride with the haunting legacy of Rebecca … kept alive by the sinister housekeeper.
'Cadaver'

If psychological thriller-horror films are the genre of choice, this takes the viewer on quite the journey after a nuclear disaster puts humanity to the test. To help spirits, a local hotel decides to host a theater production for the survivors of the nuclear disaster, but the lines between reality and theater become blurred.
'Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight'

There is so much worry these days about what the increase in screen time is doing for our kids and our teenagers, and that's really the theme of this movie. This movie follows a retired priest name Menéndez who lives in a run-down and dark apartment. He is haunted by terrible nightmares that play back acts of his past, torturing him, and giving him a crisis of faith. He's visited by an old friend who asks him to help rid his daughter of being possessed, but Menéndez isn't sure he's doing more good than harm.
