New mom Keke Palmer proudly shared an update about her baby boy on Monday. Not only did she announce his birth, but she also shared his name. While many of us were too busy ooh-ing and ahh-ing over photos of the newborn, there was a not-so-small contingent of people who couldn't get over the little boy's big name.
Welcome to the world, Leodis Andrellton Jackson.
Keke made the announcement late Monday, sharing the first few images of her newborn son in a post where she also dropped his name.
"Born during Black History Month, with a name to match," she wrote, before hinting that he'd be going by the nickname Leo.
Leo's bold moniker made quite a splash online.
On Instagram, people were mostly congratulatory, wishing the new mom well.
"Welcome to the club!!!" one fellow parent wrote. "Get all the rest you can and take your time healing."
Another follower also welcomed Keke into her new role. "Congratulations," the fan wrote in an emoji-filled post. "Welcome to the best hood."
But people on Twitter had jokes about the little boy's name.
Several people responded to the unexpected name by sharing funny quips about it.
"She said her son gone know how to chop wood, start fires and build houses with his bare hands," one person tweeted, in part.
Another person joked about the bold moniker. "That name sound like it led a civil rights march," the person wrote.
The jokes didn't stop there.
Someone created a fake backstory for the newborn and posted it along with a black-and-white photo of another Black man.
"Know Your History," the user wrote. "Leodis Andrellton Jackson was born on February 27, 1879 in Hobson City, Alabama to parents Darius Jackson and Lauren Keyana Palmer. Leodis is credited with inventing the cast-iron skillet."
OK, this one wins.
Keke is unbothered.
It's clear the new mom isn't too upset about everyone's strong reactions, judging by this quote tweet!
We're sure Keke and Darius are currently in a bonding bubble right now and don't have a care in the world when it comes to how their son's name is being received. Leo is an adorable nickname, and we don't doubt he'll grow into his full name in time, too.
Congrats to the new parents!
