Khloé Kardashian surprised her Instagram followers on Monday when she finally shared the first photo of her baby son in a post celebrating Tristan Thompson's 32nd birthday. Fans should have been focused on her little boy's adorable chubby cheeks, but instead they couldn't get past the gushing caption that Khloé wrote about her philandering ex.
The post celebrated all of Tristan's virtues.
Khloé shared multiple photos of her NBA player ex, including some of him posing with her own children, as well as his other kids and additional members of his family.
"Happy birthday, Tristan Thompson," she began her lengthy caption. "You are truly the best father, brother, and uncle. Your love, attention, silly dances, hugs, carpool rides, bedtime rituals, the way you show up for them. All of the above means more than you'll ever know to your family of littles."
She also hinted at some areas where Tristan might have room for improvement.
Her post wasn't just full of warm and fuzzy thoughts. Khloé did include a little jab about some things she'd like to see her ex tackle this year.
"My birthday wish for you is that you continue to crave change, healing, and transformation," she continued. "Be strong, be kind, be patient, be free. Continue to make your soul and your mommy proud. Happy birthday, baby daddy."
Fans erupted online over the post, causing Khloé to turn off the comments.
Her tribute to Tristan did not go over well. Angry critics took to Twitter to share their frustration after The Kardashians star closed commenting on her Instagram page.
"Tristan Thompson does his bare minimum duty as a father, and Khloé Kardashian is like, 'World's best dad.' Girl, after all the s— he put you through? Shut up," one person sniped.
Another pointed out how telling it was that not all of Tristan's kids were featured.
There were plenty of people tweeting about how the child whom Tristan conceived while he was cheating on Khloé wasn't included in the post, drawing criticism over just how good of a dad the man could be.
"Last time Khloé Kardashian told Tristan happy birthday was when he went out of town to get another woman pregnant and now he has to pay over $10,000 a month in child support," another person tweeted, referring to Tristan's 2021 affair with personal trainer Maralee Nichols, who gave birth to their son in December 2021.
Some think this is a sign of a concerning change in the former couple's relationship.
There's a whole separate group of Twitter users who think Khloé's post was meant to announce that she's going to give Tristan a third chance to make things right between them. But here's hoping she has learned her lesson when it comes to Tristan and that she's not planning on going down that road again. Although it would make for great reality television, we can't imagine her heart can take much more abuse from that man.
