What to Know
On February 19, 2026, Eric Dane died at the age of 53 after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS. Lots of heartfelt tributes for the actor, who is known for portraying Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan on Grey’s Anatomy, came pouring in, but one person’s comments went viral because people thought they seemed like inappropriate comments to make after Dane’s death. Laura Ann Tull, an extra on Grey’s Anatomy, took to Threads on the day of Dane’s death to assert that he was actually a “bully” and an “a hole.”
Regardless of how Tull feels about Dane, people on social media criticized the actress for sharing the negative message at the wrong time.
She shared her feelings in several different posts.
When people challenged Tull or told her it wasn’t the right time to criticize Dane, she doubled down and shared more accusations against the late actor. Per Complex, in a series of posts on Threads, Tull claimed that Dane “bullied” her and “made fun of” her. She called him a “jerk,” a “narcissist,” and “evil.”
In one post, she alleged, “He was a coward who abused me. Bullied me. Made fun of me. When I had beaten cancer. When I was getting sick with an autoimmune disease. He was a stuck on himself narcissist. His dying doesn’t change destruction he caused me.”

Reacting to Tull’s claims, people reminded her that he just died and is no longer able to defend himself.
“Yikes. Too soon, Laura,” one person wrote in response. And someone else shared, “You don’t speak ill of the dead, especially when it’s not even been a week since his passing and his family are freshly in grief. They don’t deserve to read such insensitive stuff that you’ve put.”
‘Grey’s Anatomy’ recently paid tribute to Dane.
A montage dedicated to Dane’s character was shown at the end of the episode that aired on February 26. The show’s official Instagram account also shared it, captioning the montage with, “In loving memory of Eric Dane. ❤️”
Shonda Rhimes, the creator of Grey’s Anatomy, also shared a tribute to the late actor on Instagram. “Eric Dane was a beloved member of the Shondaland and Grey’s Anatomy families. He was truly a gifted actor whose portrayal of Dr. Mark Sloan left an indelible mark on the series and on audiences around the world,” she wrote. “We are grateful for the artistry, spirit, friendship and humanity he shared with us for so many years. Our hearts are with his family, loved ones, and all who were touched by his work.”
