Maci shared her reasoning with the gossip site The Ashley.
The mother of three responded to requests for an explanation as to why she showed up in support of her ex, who she's often butted heads with in the past. Of course, Maci had the most mom-like response for coming out to Ryan's hearing.
"As Bentley's mom it was important for me to show up for not only Ryan, but Bentley as well," she explained.
She wasn't the only familiar face in the courtroom.
Ryan's parents, Jen and Larry Edwards, were among the supporters who came out for Ryan, as well as a representative from the CADAS rehabilitation center in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Both Jen and the rep testified on Ryan's behalf, and he's waiting to learn his fate after being charged with several crimes.
Ryan has been behind bars since April.
He's serving time after pleading guilty to harassing his estranged wife Mackenzie, with whom he shares a 3-year-old daughter and a 4-year-old son.
Mack took out a protection of abuse order against Ryan after she claimed things got physical between them. Ryan immediately violated the order, which was the reason for one of his multiple recent arrests.
Wednesday's hearing didn't shed any new light on Ryan's future.
Ryan's hearing was about some of his other crimes, which include harassing Mackenzie, two charges of possession of a controlled substance, and DUI.
It doesn't sound like any real headway was made in court this week, which means Ryan will have to wait to learn his fate until he returns to the courtroom in July.

It's clear Maci still feels some loyalty to Ryan because of their son.
Bentley has spent very little time with his dad over the years thanks to Ryan's issues with substance abuse. We're sure Maci believes she has to maintain that connection with Ryan so he will have a pathway back to his son once he's served his time and gotten better control of his addiction.
Hopefully Ryan uses his time behind bars to work on himself so Bentley will be open to that reunion once he gets out.
