Ryan will spend almost a year in prison.
The 35-year-old learned his fate during a hearing on April 20, according to InTouch Weekly. Ryan pleaded guilty to harassment charges that stemmed from two arrests, one on February 10 and the other on March 1.
Ryan was initially given the option to go to rehab for his substance abuse issues and placed on probation, but the father of three quickly violated the terms set by the judge, landing him in the slammer.
Katie Joy of Without a Crystal Ball explained how Ryan ended up with a prison sentence.
According to the blogger, Ryan will be remanded to prison for 11 months and 29 days, despite his legal team's efforts to keep him out of the system. "His team requested he go to treatment, but the judge said he's been given that choice and hasn't taken it," she wrote.
"The judge told Ryan that he will die if he doesn't overcome his substance abuse issue and that he has to make the choice to save his own life."
Katie also asked people to stop harassing Ryan's estranged wife over his mistakes.
Apparently, Mackenzie Edwards has taken a lot of the blame for Ryan's behavior.
"I've seen people comment that she deserved it and 'Maci was right' and 'she needs to apologize to Maci,'" Katie wrote of Ryan's ex Maci Bookout.
"All of this is beyond insensitive to the trauma she's endured and the ongoing trauma she's experiencing at this time," she continued.
She's not wrong. Based on Mackenzie's claims against Ryan, she's been through an absolutely horrific experience.
Fans were first alerted there was a problem when Ryan started making claims about Mackenzie on Instagram.
In February, he posted but later deleted half-naked photos of his then-wife, accusing her of infidelity. The nonconsensual nudes were apparently just one part of an ongoing fight between Ryan and Mackenzie that turned violent when she finally told Ryan she wanted a divorce.
From there, we learned that Ryan called Mackenzie to threaten to have men come to her job and assault her. She alerted police to everything that was going on and was granted a protection from abuse order before filing for divorce February 27, obtaining temporary custody of her and Ryan's two kids.

Video from inside Mackenzie and Ryan's home depicts a scary picture of Ryan's downward spiral.
Recently uncovered body cam footage from the February 10 call to 911 shows just how unhinged Ryan became. The video shows broken windows, graffiti on the walls, and a visibly upset Mackenzie.
Our hearts go out to Mackenzie and her kids while they navigate this challenging time. We truly hope Ryan is able to get the help he needs while he's in prison.
